NARRATOR’S POV
Alexander run his hand through his hair after what he had just done to the woman who left in tears. That was no way to treat a girl. His habit of speaking his mind when angered had not changed. It would be lie if Alexander said he did not feel bad at all after what he had just done. Though he had been receiving complaints on the terrible ways that woman treats patients and her colleagues.
The fact that she was fired from one of the country’s leading hospitals on such terms has basically ended her career as a nurse brings a sense of guilt. Alexander chuckled at his tendency to be sentimental at times. But this was a side he could never show to others. It was weak and he had to grow up being fed the lines weak people are controlled by the strong. He sighs and get back to the pile of documents that needed his attention. “I’m not weak.” He mutters to himself like a personal catch phrase.
PRESENT TIME
CLAIRE’S POV…..
It’s now I notice the crowd behind Alexander. The servants and his entire family stood the with ear to ear smiles.
I was still in a state of comprehending what was going on when two ladies came and engulfed me in a hug. I can tell they were identical twins at first glance. “You must be our sister-in law.” Who are they? I send a secret question-glare at Alex.
He smiles and held each of their shoulders. “This is Quinn.” He points to the one his right. “And this is Sophia.” He points to the girl on his left. They both had a look of excitement that they were trying to hold back but finally lost control as the launch towards me bombarding me with questions. “Wow your hair is so pretty. “Is it natural?” “Oh I wish I had this hair.” “And you’re beautiful too.” “Oh my God how did you get your skin to be so smooth?” “You must tell us.” “Is it your cream?” “Is it you bath routine?” “Tell us please!” I am still stupefied but luckily Alex came to my rescue.
“No introductions for us, Alex” His father asked with a raised eye brow and a small nearly unnoticeable smile. I look of surprise flashed through Alexanders’ face but disappeared within two seconds. “Claire this is my father, Edward White. Father this is the woman of my dreams, Claire Nora Anderson.”
“Nice to meet you Sir.” “Sigh?” He muttered in slightly displeased tone. “Please call me, Father or along the lines just call me dad.” He said with a huge smile. I was a bit petrified by his attitude. He is portrayed in the media as a cold, strict and charismatic man. So yeah, him smiling kind of threw me off. I gave him a warm smile “Yes… father.” “This is my mom, Beatrice White.” I felt my shoulder stiffen when my eyes landed at the elegant middle aged woman. Her gave was firm and devoid of humor.
She slowly walks towards me carrying her elegant air with her. She stretches her hand forward and cups my cheek while I stand there confused. A smile lights up her face without warning “You’re so pretty! Aye the perfect daughter in law to boast about.”
I was stunned for a few seconds “I’m sorry, but I thought you hated me.” “Oh dear hate is strong word. I was just testing you and you passed. You’re a strong woman. A strong woman will give me strong grandsons and beautiful granddaughters.” Even his mother was smiling? I slap my hand over my mouth. She walks toward me and hugged a petrified me. “To think the exist a woman who can handle my foolish son stand up against me and protect her pride. Oh you’re definitely the whole package love.” I absentmindedly hug her back. I felt the blood rush to my cheeks.
The Alex chuckles and points to a blonde male “This my older brother, Dylan White.” Dylan hand a shy smile as he greeted me I could see a hint of pink. I recognized him as the one who came to support his mother after are little quarrel when she looks like she was about to pass out. I took his outstretched hand and smiled. “Nice to meet you.” “Nice to meet you too.” He responds.
“And that’s my oldest brother I assume you’ve met. Tyler White.” With a grin he took my hand and kissed the back of my hand deliberately taking his time to remove his lips from my hand.
This however did not sit well will Alex as he impatiently yanks my hand away from his brother making me collide with his firm chest. He then proceeds to glare harshly at his brother who simple shrugs it off with a grin. “You know little bro have you treat women like glass or they might just break and leave you.”
Alexander did not respond with words but rather a bone shuddering glare. Tyler simply shrugged it off and went in and we all soon followed suit. We had a peaceful dinner and I learnt a lot about the family. For example, I learnt that Sophia was a forensic scientist while Quinn works as a fashion designer for a famous brand. Tyler is a famous lawyer winning every case he is assigned and Dylan works manages the Construction branch of the company. We had a delightful conversation as I also shared a bit about myself and we soon parted with them.
That night I felt a heavy weight lift off my shoulders as Alex cuddled me to sleep. “Sleep tight, beautiful.” He says before kissing my cheeks and making me blush. That night I went to sleep knowing that nothing could ruin this…right?

I was forced to eat my own words when I sat on the floor of the empty master bedroom with a pale look on my face and the test in my hands, staring at those familiar two bars which could only mean one thing…?
Ten years ago.
[THIS FLASHBACK IS NOT FROM ONLY ONE PERSON'S POINT OF VIEW.]
I sit in the school’s library chewing my lips while engaged in my latest pick. It was a romance novel with steamy scenes and I was loving it. I only took my attention off it when the closing bell rang. I grabbed my back and dashed towards the exit like I was running away from a beast and I was. I hoped and prayed that my legs were fast enough to escape. My hopes shattered instantly while my face lost color when I saw them at the entrance of the school.
The school hunks, loved and admired by all, they brought many awards from football to our school but most off all, …my bullies. I slowly back away praying the didn’t notice me. I planned to leave through the back door however fate had order plans for. One off them noticed me, grabbed me by my color and slammed me against the lockers gaining the attention of the rest. MY head hurt a lot from the impact making me wince.
“If it isn’t for the white haired witch of the west.” One of them said with amusement in his voice. They continue to poke fun at my expense hurting my dignity for a couple of minutes till someone tells them to shut up. The wasn’t even a peep after they heard that irritated voice the made way for the owner to get close enough to me.
As soon as my eyes met with those electric blue ones I lowered my head. He banged his hand on the locker a few inches away from me causing me to flinch.
“Look at me.” He commanded and I obeyed without hesitation. “You’ve started to grow wings haven’t ya.” He said with a dangerous smile. I shook my head still shivering in fear. “Why didn’t you come when I told you to.” He wouldn’t believe me if I told him I was taking care of my little brother who got sick. “I’m sorry it’ll never happen again. Please forgive me I’ll do anything.” He smirked when he heard my words. “Anything?” He repeated trying to make me sure of my own words and I nodded without thinking of the consequences of my own words.
“Good.” He moved away from me. “Meet me at the parking lot after school tomorrow.” That all he said before all he walks out with his groupies at his tail. I sink to the ground as people pass by with looks of pity and contempt. I’m so screwed.
