OUT OF PLACE

1775 Words
I pick up my phone and call Jonas. I felt really embarrassed asking for it but I had no choice since I wasn’t allowed out of the mansion. “Hello miss what can I do for you.” “Umm Jonas I was wondering if you could uh go into town and get me some… pills.” “…”  “Are you there?” “Yes, right away miss.” “Thanks a lot.” Thanks to the reliable Jonas I take the pills within minutes. Turns out they have a lot of it in the mansion thanks to their young masters little one night stands. I bath and take the pill after which I head downstairs for breakfast. After which I work till twelve and go to the mansions library and read to my heart’s content.   It's two pm and lily comes to give me interesting news. Alexander is to attend a charity event held by the white family and I’m to escort him as his partner, not that I have a choice. I get up and start preparations after several rounds of mortal combat with the maids I was ready at six. (P.S: I lost. Badly.) They (forcefully) bath me, dressed me and did my makeup.  I come down the stairs in very uncomfortable high heels since I’ve always been a sneaker and slides girl you can just imagine my troubles. Have my eyes on him as he stands the with his electric blue eyes and fine pricey tux. He gracefully extends his arm to me and I take it while he retains a poker face.  We get into the limo and sit there fiddling with my purse, good grief I’ve never been to a fancy party before. I haven’t even been to a party before cause I’m a damn degree holder in being an introvert. I read about fancy parties from novels and comics but never have I planned on going to one. Even when these events are held at the publishing company I work for I find excuses and stay home with Max; speaking of him I haven’t seen him around at all.  I should ask my mom him over since I going to be here for…a while.  As these thoughts run through my head I feel a big hand warm and on mine. I look up and see Alexander looking at me with a straight look but I manage to sense a slightest trace of warmth in his ocean blue eyes. Is he trying to reassure me? I feel something encircle my waste before I can react I am pulled into his strong arms. I comply and he place’s his chin on my head. “Don’t panic you’re my woman. No one will dare look down on you even if they do I will protect your pride no matter what.” I nod and secretly chuckle at this… i***t.  We arrive at the venue and Alex helps me out of the car, we then walk arm in arm into the main hall. The moment we enter all eyes were on us, I meet a lot of people I would only see on television in my entire life. “Smile.” Alexander whispers noticing my slight discomfort.  I breath in and resume a poise smile and unwavering look fill my eyes. “Good.” He compliments in a voice audible enough for just me to hear. We are greeted by several people most of which praised him on his accomplishments as a young doctor. While I stood there like a frog that just came out of a well with almost every technical term sounding gibberish to me. I’m feeling totally out of place. This isn’t my world.  Soon an elder looking woman in an elegant outfit who seemed to be in her late fifties but still managed to maintain her youthful look and a young brunette in an equally elegant dress walk to us. The woman was visibly displeased she looked at me with her eyes filled with contempt.  “Good Evening mother.” Alexander greets the older woman and I follow suit “Good evening Mrs. White.” I give her a friendly smile and she returns it with a look of disdain. It doesn’t bother me in the least bit after all… I’m used to that kind of look. “Son could you give me a reasonable explanation why you didn’t show up to the date arranged for you and Miss Collins.” His mother asks in nonchalant voice with a sharp look in her eyes. A devilish smile formed on his lips as he hugged me from behind and gave me a kiss on the crook of my neck causing me to flinch and turn tomato red. “I was busy.” He answers still holding onto me. A cold menacing glare is directed to me from Mrs. White. “How much?” She turns to me with an icy tone. “What?” I ask out of confusion and surprise when her voice reaches me. “How much is he paying to w***e around with him I’ll pay you double.”  Alexander is just about to defend me when I tighten my grip on his arm, I am not weak and will not be bullied easily. He got the message and kept quiet. I then look directly into his mother eyes. “Do you know me.” “Of because I know your type, leeching of naive rich men and spreading your legs at the mere sight of money.” She replied harshly and I intensified my stare and repeated the question. “Do you know me?”  “How dare you. A lowly w***e has the audacity to look at me with such eyes. I wouldn’t be surprised if w***e mother conceived you after w*****g around.” She retorted but I could sense she was shaken. Now my patient reached its limit insult me, fine but insult my mother and you will regret it.  My eyes turned dark and my voice was purely bone chilling, I asked her again.    “Do. You. Know. Me?” My voice low but loud enough for the her around me to hear.  “W-W-What?” She stammered. “Do not judge a book by its cover. The older you grow the wiser you become but this saying seems to have the opposite effect on you Mrs. White. Don’t show your shallow mindedness in public it’ll ruin your family’s reputation. Congrats by the way for today, you have thought me something. You have thought me why men in the olden days preferred their wives to keep mum during such events and just stay wallflowers. Someone once told me respect your enemies since they are the only ones who think you are the best. So Mrs. White do you think of me as a friend or foe? Do you think I am at your level or… better than you? Your pick!” I give her a fake smile with my eyes still looking dark while the color continues to drain from her face she slightly moves back.  “Mother.” We hear a male voice call from behind and we turn and spot man equally as tall as Alex with the same electric blue eyes coming towards Mrs. White. The young man takes hold of her arm to support her as she looked like she is about to faint. “Are you okay?” He asks. The woman looked at me for a few seconds and simply nods and walks away with the man and Miss Collins supporting her.  “Savage.” I hear a deep male voice from behind. “Aren’t supposed to be escorting your dear mother.” I look at him with a slight frown. “The f**k do I look like? Her overpaid wet nurse?” I giggle at his amusing answer. After that a few more people come to talk to us or rather Alexander.  Soon it’s time for Mr. White, Alexander’s father to give a speech. His three sons stood beside him as he gave his speech. Once he was done a thunderous applause erupted for him. But that was not where my attention was I recognized one of Alexanders brothers as the man who greeted me in the garden after I woke up, same electric blue eyes but I felt I’ve seen him somewhere else, the feeling is unsettling. There brothers had strong particular traits in common, an overwhelming air of dominance and piercing blue eyes that bore into your soul which they inherited from their father.  Mr. White presented himself as a man of principle and power. He and the brothers then went somewhere private. I looked around and spotted a buffet table a smile lit up my face. As soon as I got close I grabbed a plate and started dishing out. Sea food, pastries, vegan name it I ate I felt an intense stare or rather three. The first on was the Miss Collins next was the man who rudely grabbed me I recognized those green eyes the last belonged to a pair off electric blue eyes. It wasn’t Alexander but his eldest brother. His gaze was intense but I just couldn’t tell what he was thinking. I have to admit he was dreamy but something his gaze put me on alert the little voice in my head yelled danger with flashing red lights. It wasn’t a lustful one neither a resentful one nor was it a friendly one it was just …weird.   I felt slightly light headed so I decided to go out for some fresh air and hopefully find my way to the mansion because I am tired. I stand looking like a lost sheep I hug myself due to the freezing weather outside and I realize my sleeveless dress was a bad idea. I shiver while desperately trying to find Alexander’s car. Someone covers me up with a jacket instantly saving me from freezing. I turn to thank the Angel when my words refuse to leave my throat.  A pair of magnetic blue eyes were not far from mine. “Umm Hi.” I awkwardly try to start a conversation with him looking at me with that weird look again. After an eternity he responds “Hi my name is Tyler, Tyler White and I’d presume you to be my brothers escort.”  “Claire Rivers. Nice to meet you.” I respond with a smile. “My, to think my brother left a goddess alone in the cold. You know he really needs to get a doctor’s advice, simply put a mirror in front of him and let his ego fill in.” I giggle as Tyler makes fun at Alexander’s expense ignoring my subconscious warnings. He’s not wrong Alexander has an ego and know-it-all attitude the size of Asia. Tyler is a fun person when he isn’t giving me THAT look. I enjoy our humorous conversation for a while when someone grabs my arm and my arm and yanks me back.
