FIONA It was so late that the breeze coming in through my open windows had dropped to that chilly temperature that seems achievable only under the cover of deep darkness and the moon’s icy stare. It fluttered my curtains and sent pleasant shivers drifting along my clammy skin. The rest of the palace was quiet and only the occasional hooting or an owl or the chirping of a cricket let me know that the entire world hadn’t ceased to exist. Yet, I could not sleep. And that wasn’t the worst part. My body was filled with a restlessness that was both anger and arousal. It made it almost impossible to get comfortable.
