Chapter 2.

1525 Words
Monalisa froze in her spot, deeply rooted to the ground, all thanks to the gruff voice that had just called out to her. When she had gotten down to planning her escape, she had no idea someone was in the car. What were the chances that the owner of a sleek motor vehicle like this one, would be sitting inside it, in one of the shadiest market places in the street. Fuck, she was toast. A moment of silence passed, but that was all it took for monalisa to snap out of it. Her senses buzzed as she made to escape, but fate had other plans. “”Stop!” A gruff voice called from behind, causing her to halt in her tracks. A cold shiver ran down her spine at how thick his voice was, and she mentally slapped herself. “Don't you dare try to run away. If you so much as take another step, I promise you will regret it.” All Leo had was a good view of the woman's back. Jet black her sat atop her head, before flowing down behind her. The ends stopped just on top of her lower back, before giving way to the most perfect shape Leonardo had ever seen. She was curvy, but not too much. Literally just the right size to drive a man crazy. “How dare you?” He spat, the anger of what she was just about to do, clouding him all over again. “Did you really think you could hotwire my car and get away with it? You'll pay, I promise you…” Lisa squirmed, that was the last thing she needed;to be arrested. Her Nana might be unable to bail this time. “Please.” Lisa was on her feet immediately, facing his direction. “Please have mercy…” But that was all Leonardo needed to hear before tuning her out. His eyes widened into the size of saucers as he took in the little thief. She looked just like Lillian. But it couldn't be, Lilian was dead. Right? “Lilian?”Leo blurted as he did nothing to hide the shock on his face. There were just two explanations to this, either he was seeing things, or the light was playing some kind of trick on him. “Is that really you?" He asked, a mixture of hope at the sharp edge of his tone. Lisa on the other hand, took it as her turn to get confused. She was scared, and an uneasy feeling washed over her. If the gaze he was pointing at her meant anything, then it was the fact that he probably knew her from somewhere, when she hadn't even set her eyes on him before in her entire life. It was her first time trying to steal from him. “Lilian, are you…” the sound of Leo's voice was drowned out by another high octabe almost immediately. “There you are!” Lilian recognized the voice immediately and goosebumps wasted no time in appearing on her skin. “Did you really think you would escape from me, little thief?!” Even in a million years, there was no way Lisa would be able to forget the shop keeper's angry tone, not until she was far far away from him at least. “There she is!" He yelled again, this time stumping towards her and raising more attention towards Lisa. “Somebody get that thief!.” That was all Lisa needed to make her next move. The moment those words slipped past the shop owner's mouth, she dashed in the other direction. She was so fast, even Leo could do nothing about it but stare as she faded into the distance. Leo's gaze on Monalisa didn't falter as she kept on running. Even when the shop owner raced after her, he just stood there. “Leo.” Leo jerked out of his trance when someone called out to him. It was his bodyguard who'd just returned from a little walk. With nothing less than a glance in his direction, Leo got into the car. Even as his bodyguard drove out of the market and towards their destination, it did nothing to take Leo's mind off the lady he'd just met. Was he seeing things, or was that just a replica of his late wife. The drive to Don Giovanni’s mansion didn't take as long as Leo had expected. Perhaps it had something to do with a particular black haired girl popping in and out of his mind all the time. However, the moment his bodyguard drove into the Manicini Familia Casa, he had no choice than to lock her up at the back of his mind. The moment the car's ignition went dead, Leo got out of the car and headed for the stairs that led up the mansion. A frown made its way to his lips when he realized who was standing just at the entrance. “Leonardo.” He drawled. “It's nice to see you.” “Derrick.” Leo's voice was curt, and definitely devoid of any emotions towards his cousins. Yes, the duo were related by blood and family, but that does nothing to guarantee a sort of friendship between both men. “It's nice to see you too, dear cousin.” Derrick didn't miss the hint in Leonardo's voice and his eyes flashed with something dead. They both weren't on good terms and it was simply because Leonardo had every idea that Derrick was eyeing his position as the family's capo. “Grandfather's inside.” Derrick announced when he'd gotten to the top of the stairs. “This way, the meeting's already started.” And true to his cousin's words, it already had. Leonardo settled down around the table set in-between his grandfather, Don Giovanni. After a slight nod in his direction, his grandfather spoke up. “We're so glad you could finally join us.” Giovanni started. “But we're not going to be wasting any more time and jump right into business. Leo, after our conversation, I was able to come up with a solution. You're going to get married.” A deep scowl contorted Leo's face ”I already told you Grandpa.” Leonardo wasted no time in countering his grandfather's wife. “I'm not getting married, I don't have time for marriage now…”” “Nonsense, you'll make time! Besides, you won't get married to any random stranger.” The old man cut his grandson off. “You'll be getting married to a bride, I've handpicked myself.” The words had barely left his lips before the clacking of heels filled the air. Every pair of eyes turned to Rosalina Russel as she sauntered into the conference room, her father, Paul Russell trailing behind her. Only when they were comfortably seated did grandfather continue. “Paul and I here decided that wedding both of our children was the best option possible.” Anger bubbled deep in Leo's veins as his father spoke. From a side view he noticed Rosalinda's eyes on him, shinning as though she had met her most prised possession. His jaw clenched as the anger swelled up more in him. Leo didn't have even the tiniest bit of attraction to Rosa. In his eyes, she was a slut and nothing else. “So Leo, say hello to your new wife.” The rest of this meeting rushed by in a blue, with Leo far from concentrating. Throughout the meeting s***h dinner, Leo couldn't help but keep on staring daggers at Rosa. Right now, he wanted nothing more than to disappear from their sight. When the guests had disappeared, he made his way towards his grandfather's study “I told you not to interfere, i made my decision” Leo snapped at his grandfather the anger blazing off him. “I told you i didn't want to get married soon and yet you went ahead to plan a marriage without my consent?" "Well I had to, you were taking so long to get a new bride. Leo, you can't prolong marriage... it's important. And besides, Rosalina is a beautiful young lady, a perfect fit for a Capo's wife" Don Gio added. Leo snickered, Paul Russell's daughter, Rosalina Russell was anything but perfect. She was a wanton woman, a w***e who'd open legs for anyone who has little power and authority. She was a good f**k, and that's all she'd ever be to him. “I don't think you have a choice here young man.” His grandfather stepped forward. “ It's either you get married, or you forfeit your birthright Leo. A Capo is never complete without a family of his own. And I for one, am ready for the choice you would take. Unless you can get yourself a bride, then the deal still stands. You'll get married to Rosalina Russell ” He gave Leo's shoulder a gentle squeeze "This is for your own good, my boy" Without so much as a glance in Leo's direction, Don Gio strutted out, leaving an angry Leo behind in his office
