Chapter 3 : Mrs Mancini

1816 Words
A small creak filled the air as Lisa pushed open the small weight iron door that led to her house. The door had definitely seen better days, but it still served its purpose. When Monalisa was sure she had shut the door behind her, she carefully brought out the item she had stolen. It was bread, soft, warm bread, fresh from the baker's oven. A small smile made its way to her lips as she recalled the events leading up to this moment. How she had waited for the right moment before swiping the bread and running for her dear life. She hadn't expected the man to run after her, but he did, and the fact that he couldn't catch her, made it all the more memorable. As she wobbled deeper into her house, a string of laughter slipped past her lips. Monalisa was living her best life, and no one could convince her otherwise. Leo sat in a room in the Manicini mansion, a drink in hand and a million thoughts running through his mind. How he was able to juggle more than one activity was a mystery, but it still didn't divert his attention from the phone call he was making. “Yes,I'm listening.”’ Leo called, as he patiently waited for the person on the other side of the phone. “Well, I think that's a great idea, so long as you…” The loud clicking of heels against the tiles was all it took to cut Leo short. The footsteps came closer, but he stilled, waiting for whoever it was to make an appearance. When dainty hands wrapped around his neck from behind, accompanied with the signature scent he'd inhaled from one of his grandfather's guests earlier today, he just knew who it was. “Leo.” Rosaline purred in his ear, and that alone was a huge turn off. “Are you busy? Even if you are, I like to think you can make an exception.” “What are you doing here?” Leo was on his feet immediately. Thankfully, he'd ended the call the moment she walked in, so his investors on the other side were safe from hearing whatever nonsense Rosalina was about to spill. His eyes raked over her immediately, and he just knew what she was here for. Rosalina was in nothing but a set of black see-through lingerie, her D-cup breast and plump ass out on display. She was pretty and a seductress no doub, but it didn't his mindset towards and the fact that he still wasn't down to be tied to her caliber in the name of marriage. In the past, he had spent one rough night with Rosalina. It was a one night stand, and it didn't change Leo's thoughts about her. She was a slut who wasted no time in spreading her legs for anyone with little power and money. She lips stretched into a smile. She graciously moved closer to him, her hips swaying with each steps she took and,his sharp masculine scent filling her nostrils, and once she reached out her fingers to feel his chest. Leo clutched her hand in the air. He pulled her to him with a harsh tug, Rosalina gasped as she faked a smile to cover her pain. “I asked you a question, didn't I?” Leo barked before she could get any more words out. “ Don't you have any shame? Even just a little bit? What did you think? That you could walk in here and try to seduce me? Because we had what, we spent one night together?” “I…” “I don't know what you thought before coming here.” Leo wasn't having it. “But I want you to do something for me, erase whatever's making you think something can happen between the both of us.” Without so much as a glance in her direction, Leo stormed out of the room, anger bubbling in his veins, leaving Rosalina gaping with disappointment. Leo wasted no time as he marched to his next destination. He headed straight to the bar. He needed to think, clear his head and try to figure out what to do next. His grandfather's words echoed in his ears about finding a wife or risk losing his right as capo to his cousin Derrick. The only reason why Derrick had that kind of leverage over him, was because he was in a relationship with a model. It was a fake relationship, but Leo doubted his grandfather has an idea of that. And just when took a last sip from his tequila, someone flickered into his mind. The lady with jet black hair who had tried to hot-wire his car earlier today. Not only was she intriguing, she was a beauty to behold, and that body…Christ! As he found himself thinking about her more than necessary, an idea popped up into Leo's mind. All it took was one phone call and his assistant had appeared right in front of him. “I want you to find someone.” Leo let the words slip past him lips. “Not just find her. I want everything you can get about her. Her location, who she is, literally everything you can find. Do you understand?” “Yes, sir.” His assistant nodded, before exiting the premises. Over the years, Leo had always relief on his assistants expertise, so it was no surprise when his assistant appeared about an hour later, a small file in hand. The file contained everything about the woman who was currently swirling around Leo's mind, from even the tiniest details to the large ones too. "Monalisa Walters" He called name, a he slightly stroke his chin. He narrowed his eyes at the picture of her he had in his hand. He strode out of the bar to where his car was parked in the driveway. He opened the door and got in,he ignittes the engine and drove out. Heading straight to slum location James had sent to him. The drive didn't take too much time, particularly because Leo didn't want to waste so much as another second, losing his right to his cousin. Unlike every normal girl, Lisa gew up on her own; she was an orphan. Fending for herself with her daily hustle in the bustling streets. The only good property she had was their patched up apartment she lived in. It belonged to her parents. She had just put out her dirty clothes when she heard a loud knock on the door. She assumed it was no other person than Scott, the new guy who had been trying to get on her. A frown formed on her brow as she wondered what he wanted from her at this hour of the night. Without giving a second thought, she sprinted out of her room and marched straight to her make-shift living room. Grumbling deeply to herself, she reached for her door knob. "What the f**k do you...." Her words cut, her eyes widened in shock as a tall, giant figure appeared infront of her and thick bluish eyes stared at her. Her heart jolted up inside her ribcage in alarm. It was the rich scary guy from earlier today! The surprise that flickered on Monalisa's face the moment the door swung open wasn't one Leo was going to be forgetting anytime soon. She had big doe eyes, just like Lilian, and Leo couldn't focus on how she looked so much like his late wife. She breaks the silence “What are you doing here sir?” Monalisa question pulled leo out of his daze. “How did you even find me?” “I think I'll ask the questions here.” Leo cleared his throat, a desperate attempt in composing himself. It still baffled him how someone else could look so much like Lilian. “I'm here to offer you a deal" he says as he sauntered in. “A deal?” The confusion on Monalisa's face was evident. “I won't file a report against you, for trying to steal my car.” Leo stated matter of factly. “ Instead, I'm here to offer you a contract.” he said firmly, a serious look contorted his face as he slowly let dart his eyes around her living room... taking in the makeshift features. Lisa scoffed. What was this man trying to do? All these rich people who'd think they could oppress low class people like her, she wasn't going to let him override her! "I'm sorry sir, but I'm not interested in anything you have to say....so please leave before I call the police" Lisa said, a fearless look glazed her eyes as she folded her arms below her chest. Leo arched a brow, amused by her confidence. A smirk crept it's way to his lips and he hummed. A deep low hum that managed to send slight shivers down her spine. If only she knew who he was. Even the authorities feared him. Who wouldn't? "Well, since you're not interested...I guess I would have to file my report against you...Ms Monalisa Walters, for attempted theft and damage"Leo spoke, a cunning look in his eyes. File a report? A court case? Theft and damage? Prison!!! Lisa's mind raced in alarm. She did try to steal his car, but she didn't damage it. A court case was the last thing she wanted, she'd go to jail for sure. The fear gripped her. "Uh, I....I don't think there's need for that..." She started but Leo cut her off. He pulled out a document from his jacket and handed it to her. Her eyes trailed to the paper and she read it quietly. “A contract marriage of six months, with no strings attached.” Monalisa's face flared up at Leo's terms. Why would he want to marry her? Leo could easily place her distrust, so he added. “and I'll be willing to pay you a sum of three million.” Monalisa's eyes bulged. That had to be the biggest amount anyone had ever offered her, and now, this stranger was about to give all that, just for what? Just for her to sign a contract? Monalisa thought about it long and hard. She knew men like Leo weren't the most patient, but she still had to weigh her options. After what seemed like forever, she has her answer. “Fine.” She nodded. “I'll do it.” Leo had actually come prepared. He pulled out some documents and indicated where Lisa was supposed to sign. After she was done, he signaled to her that they leave. “Now?” Monalisa chorused. “I need to prepare, maybe I'll come by weekend..." “No.” Leo's voice was firm, sending shivers down her spine. “You're coming with me, now!”
