Lisa kept a frown on her face as she allowed Leo's words sink into her mind. Yes, she had agreed to the contract, but did that really mean he was going to whisk her away immediately? It certainly wasn't going to take a lot to say goodbye to her nana and probably pack a few things that she needed. One glance at Leo was all it took for the rest of her thoughts to sizzle into thin air. Leo had a cold look on his face, one that signified that she was wasting his time and that Leo didn't appreciate it very much. With a small groan,Lisa bid her house one silent goodbye before following the angry man towards his car. A wave of nostalgia hit Lisa when they got to the Mercedes. In her wildest dreams, she never expected to be standing with a two centimeter radius of the same car she's tried to hotwire just a couple of hours ago. All it took for her to get in was one glare from Leo. The moment she was seated comfortably at the back, Leo reved the car's engine to life, before driving off. The silence in the car was not only awkward, but sickening too and it made Lisa uncomfortable. It didn't help that throughout the drive, Leo had a huge frown on his face, giving him a cold and serious look. After what seemed like forever, Leo drove the car into the compound and Lisa couldn't help but heave a sigh of relief. The moment she stepped out of the vehicle, her relief turned into surprise. Her mouth hung open as she stared at the mansion in front of her. If the exterior of the mansion looked as gorgeous as this, what was the inside going to look like? “Master Leo.” Someone's voice cut through Lisa's thoughts, pulling her back to the present. Lisa raised her head just in time to see a lady coming down the stairs. “Welcome.” “Take her inside and allow her freshen up.” Leo quipped. The lady nodded, and Lisa was already to put two and two together to figure out that she was one of the housekeeper. “Get her everything she might need to feel comfortable. Until I get there.” With a nod in her direction, Lisa followed the housekeeper up the stairs. The housekeeper, Alba, wore a bright smile, and Lisa couldn't help but find herself mirroring her expression. As Alba led Lisa through the hallways, she snuck quick glances at the baby rooms in the house, and with each one she passed, she gaped at their beauty. “We're here ma'am.” Alba announced, before ushering Lisa into a huge room. If Lisa has thought she has seen luxury based on the exterior and the other rooms she had passed, then this was a welcome discovery. “This is your new room.” Lisa was dumbfounded. Her room had a high ceiling that seemed to touch the sky. A huge chandelier hung from the centre of the living room casting its warm glow on the walls and floors. Stripes of baby pink and purple adorned the walls, bathing the room in a kind of fairytale aura. A queen sized bed sat at the middle of the room, with a walk in dresser to the right. A vanity sat right next to it, alongside an even larger bookshelf and whatever essentials Lisa might need. Lisa's grin widened as she scampered into the room. She headed straight for the wardrobe, and the moment she pulled it open, she was far from disappointed. Dresses and clothes of different colors and styles stared back at her. Barely able to contain herself, she ran her fingers through the materials, the soft feel of the fabric pressing against her skin. They were designers, and she could easily tell. Her eyes wandered a bit, and she found an array of shoes. Up until now, Lisa wasn't that into fashion, but with all that was now in front of her, maybe it was time for her to reconsider her stance on that subject. Lisa had no idea when Alba exited the room, she was too engrossed in her new luxuries to even notice anything. Until Leo walked in, that is. “What are you doing here?” Leo's face was the first thing she saw immediately she walked out of the walk in closet. “Why are you here?” Even before Leo could get a chance to respond, her mind began conjuring a list f reasons as to why he was in her room. When her mind landed on one, she gasped. How did she not think about it earlier? Leo did say they were getting into a contract marriage right, so did that mean that they were going to have to share a room, just the way married couples did? “I only came to tell you something.” His voice was so cold it sent shivers down her spine. “Things I expect of you, so long as our agreement is still valid.” “ I want you nowhere near my room.” Leo started immediately. “My room is off limits to you at all cost, I don't care what the reason is, but stay the hell away from my room. You are not permitted to leave this mansion either.” Lisa rolled her eyes at his rules, as she fought the urge not to scoff. “If you do have to leave the house or anything, you need my permission first.” Leo didn't flinch as he laid down his second rule. “ Lastly and most importantly, there will be no strings attached.” For some strange reason, Leo's last words struck something in Lisa's heart. Since she couldn't explain it, she wasted no time in discarding it. “You're to play the role of a loving wife and that's all.” Leo's gruff voice pulled Lisa back to the present. “ Those are the rules you'll adhere to, until the contract ends.” “You're joking.” Lisa wasted no time in spitting the words out. “What do you think I am? Some kind of puppet you can boss around? Look, just because we signed a contract doesn't give you a right over my life, or how I live here.” “Is that so?” Leo drawled, his voice low and icy. Lisa's breath hitched in her throat as he took a step forward. In response, she too two back, but it still did nothing to close the distance between them. “You've got guts, I'll give you that. But leveled against me, that audacity means nothing to me.” “I…” “Do you know who I am?” He cut her off again. “Tell me, do you have any idea who I am?” Lisa shook her head slowly. Her stomach churned and suddenly, she didn't like the cold stare he was throwing at her. “I'll tell you.” Leo nodded. “ I'm Leonardo Manicini.” Lisa blanched as all the color drained from her face immediately. Her heart thundered in her chest as she tried to make sense of what he'd just said. “What?” She was breathless. Suddenly, her palms felt clammy and her head swirled a bit. “what did you just say?” “You heard me right.” A hint of a smirk made its way to Leonardo's lips. “ I'm Leonardo Mancini, capo of of the Italian Mafia . Does that ring a bell?” Hell yes it did. Lisa has heard stories about the Mancini’s, especially Leo. Amongst them all, he was the most ruthless and the most feared. Why did it have to be his car that Lisa had attempted to hotwire? Why wasn't it just some random person's car? Why did she even pick a car in the first place? If she had gone for a bike or a bicycle, none of this would have been happening. “Why are you quiet?” Leo smirked. “Tell me where all that audacity suddenly disappeared to?” he was familiar to the expression on her face, the sudden smell of the fear for him that now reeked all over her. Lisa couldn't believe her ears. Everyone knew how the men in the mafia was dangerous, and here she was, married to one. Without thinking she had signed her life away in marriage to a ruthless sinner. “No, no.It can't be.” Lisa shook her head. “there's no way.” “Yes, Lisa.” Leo was obviously enjoying the shock plastered on her face. “From today onwards, you're now Monalisa Mancini, my wife.” He clarified. Shit. If this wasn't an indication that Lisa was in deep trouble, then she had no idea what else it was.
