As I look up from my notepad I am met with the most dazzling eyes I have ever seen in my entire lifetime. I gasp quietly from the surprise of finding this handsome and expensive looking man staring at me. “I would like some water to drink please. And I have yet to decide what to eat.” I am broken out of my reverie by this man’s enchanting voice. “Excuse me! Did you hear me?” the man questions me. “Huh? Me, yes. Sorry sir. I will be right back with that water.” With that awfully embarrassing answer, I spin on my heel and head to get Mr. Enchanting some water. Yes, yes, I know the name is pretty lame but it describes him well. My subconscious suddenly comes out and starts mocking me. ‘Really good job Alia. The first man you find attractive you just have to embarrass yourself in front of.’ ‘Oh shut it!’ I snap back. Before my conscience can reply, I realize the water is full and head off with it to give it back to the hottie. ‘Ooo. We are calling him hottie now. I like it.’ my subconscious tells me. My face starts burning red, and it is then that I realize I have made it to the table that seats the recipient of my water. I plaster my smile back on my face, trying to hide my embarrassment and awkwardness in front of him."What else can I get for you today sir?" I question this fine specimen before me. "Are you actually going to listen to me this time or just admire me?" He teases me, or at least I think he does. Red stains my face as I reply, "No, sir. I am sorry sir, for my earlier behavior it will not happen again." "Well, in that case I would like a number 3 without tomatoes and a side of mashed potatoes." He said. “Coming right up sir. Call me if you need any sauces or more drinks.” I state with my fake smile still plastered on my face. Ten minutes go by as I serve other tables and wait for Mr. Enchanting’s food. Suddenly, I hear the ding indicating his food is ready. Rapidly grabbing the food, I head in the direction of his table. Arriving at his table, I see him yelling at one of my colleagues. Anger flows through my veins, making my blood run cold at the sight I witness. My colleague is on the ground pleading with the man, tears dripping down her face, all the while he is barking about how much of a slut she is. Storming over to the table where my colleague is trying to plead with him I take his mashed potatoes and shove them in his face. “That’s what you get for messing with my coworkers' jerkface!” I roar at him, my fury completely taking over me. Rationality has gone down the drain at this point in time. Everyone, including him and me, watch as the potatoes drip down his face onto his expensive looking clothing. “What did you just do?” the man calmly but quite menacingly asks me. Terror ripples through my spine but I hide it well and fake confidence. “I just gave you what you deserved, jerkface.” A cold calculating smile spreads across the jerk’s face, causing my body to stiffen from fear and anxiousness. “Well sweetheart, I hope you don’t need a job cause it is gonna be very difficult for you to find one now…….. That is unless, of course, you apologize to me.” he finishes off sneering at me with his once handsome face. I can’t control my fear anymore and question, “What do you mean? I don’t quite follow. I already have a job.” I sputter out. “Wrong darling, you had a job. Not anymore you don’t.” is his menacing and truly heartbreaking reply. Pride overtakes me and I irrationally say, “I don’t care if you took all the jobs in the world away from me, I will never apologize to you jerkface.” “I guess we are done then kitten. See you around.” With that he turns around and sautners away leaving me stupefied.
I shrug my shoulders and continue to work until my boss calls me over. Sweat beads start dripping down my back as I ring my hands nervously. Upon entering my boss’s office, I observe the cold and accusing look my boss is throwing towards me. With a sigh he stands up saying, “I thought you were hard working, adaptive, and controlled Alia.” I shake due to the tension that is building up in me because of the stress, anger, and fear, which I have felt recently. It is then that I realize my boss is still blabbering nonsense which I didn’t catch nor could comprehend until he gave a frustrated sigh saying, “Alia, you will be released from this job and will not be able to find another one. You have also been released from your other job, they called just now. If you want to ever have a job again, call this number and do exactly as he says.” My brain short circuited for a minute before I was finally able to give a response, “I am sorry sir I don’t follow.” Tears stung my eyes from what he told me next. “YOU are FIRED Alia. Have a nice night.”
