“How are you feeling, Ana?” my mother came inside my room and asked once the Erickson’s left. Lying was the only option I had left after what that old man did to me earlier.
“I am better, thank you,” I faked a cough.
My mother came down and sat beside me. Worry spiraled in her eyes as she touched my hand, “I didn’t know you were sick,” she paused for a second and then continued, “Do you want to go to a doctor?”
The only doctor I wanted to go to was Dr. Wilson.
“No, mom, I am fine, just the seasonal sickness. I will be okay,” I replied. The doctor could easily find out that I was lying.
“Okay,” my mother glanced at Cora, who was standing beside me. “Get her some soup and medicines,” she instructed. Cora nodded her head and walked away, leaving me alo
