The next day was more unpredictable. I thought I could talk my way into staying in my room, but that didn't work out well. My mother had made up her mind and was doing everything in her power to put that in place, even though it meant she was pushing me out of my comfort zone.
The ride to school was partially boring. My stepfather had suggested I be brought to school in his new Range Rover. Which seemed more unruly to me than any other thing.
The sight of a Range Rover would catch the attention of people, and that would spoil my plan to be low-key. The ride would have been boring if I didn't have my romance novel with me. "His Luna, My Mate" was the name of the book, and surprisingly, it had the most action-packed storylines and twists, and the character's love stories were a hundred percent beautiful to be true.
"Mrs. Nova, we have arrived at the Royal De Chambre High School for werewolves." Kerb, the driver, cut me off from the world of romance and back into reality.
"Oh, thanks. And I am just 18. I am not yet a Mrs.," I corrected before leaving for the school entrance.
"I will come pick you up by 3 PM; be ready before then," he let out before accelerating out of the driveway.
As I strode towards the entrance, I could see the unwavering eyes of the students around me. This was more like torture to me; if I had known, I would have just stayed back in my room locked up with Nicholas begging me to leave my warm and cozy bedroom.
As I continued moving, their gazes kept on lying on me, and I became the center of attention as they all watched my every move. For an introvert like myself, this was the nastiest punishment I have ever had to face.
I became uncomfortable as they kept looking at me nonstop. I decided to make a run for it as I held onto my bag firmly. With the flick of my wrist, I started the operation "Save Nova.". I ran nonstop till I was in the hallway.
I fell onto the floor quite a few times, but that didn't stop me from stopping in my tracks. I continued running, trying to get to the chancellor's office, I had no idea where it was. Unexpectedly, I bumped into someone descending in an instance; I wasn't the perfect gamma, so yeah, I fell.
I looked up, and right in front of me was a handsome young man. Judging by his appearance, he was about 20 years old, and surprisingly, he was wearing the school uniform. "Can't you see where you're going?" he asked, angry at the mild stain I had caused his uniform.
"Oh, I am so, so sorry about that. Try to forgive and forget." I rose, avoiding eye contact with him.
"Really? You ain't going to make it up to me?" I heard his masculine voice let out as he called back my attention.
"I don't know how to make it up to someone. So you just have to accept my apologies."
"Are you new to this school?".
"Yeah, I commenced this morning.".
"Hmmmmmn, So where are you off to now?" He came closer, almost hitting his chest with mine.
"Uhmmmm, the chancellor's office," I said, still avoiding eye contact.
"Let's go then. After all, you don't know where it is," he held my chin up, making me stare into his cute face and dazzling eyes. What a dream to think someone as handsome as this would be walking me to the chancellor's office.
"Thanks, but I think I can get there on my own." I declined. I had to if I wanted to keep a low profile. He might not be the hottest kid in school, but someone this handsome was bound to attract ladies like a magnet.
"That's what you ladies always say. Let's go." I felt his hands touch mine as he held me, ready to move.
"What are you doing?" I said as the girls in the hallway kept on staring at both of us.
"Taking you to the chancellor's office, of course," he said as he led me through the hallway to a massive door. With brute force, he smashed his fist into the door. The door didn't break, which was a surprise on my path; rather, it opened up at a speed faster than the human eye.
"Chancellor Layla, the new student has arrived just as proposed."
"Thank you very much, Nicole. I appreciate the good work you do here at the school.".
"You don't have to."
"If you insist," he finally withdrew his hands from mine and turned to leave. I could feel my heart racing as he held mine in the hallway. What a funny way to react to a guy's touch.
The chancellor made her points brief and simple at the same time. She wanted me out of her office as soon as possible, since class was about to begin. Upon leaving the chancellor's office, I caught sight of a handsome guy kissing a girl.
The girl was quite beautiful and all that, but she was feeling quite betrayed for no reason. Maybe it was because I felt I was good for him or because I wanted a romance story of my own.
I turned to leave, but my legs refused to give in. I was left standing to watch him and the beauty kiss like lovers, hungry for each other's mouths. After some minutes, they finally stopped and went their separate ways, except that the guy was coming in my direction.
"Oh yeah, I forgot to get your name.".
"What use will that be anyway?" I said I was not giving in to his adorable eyes.
"I just wanted to know the name of a damsel, that's all."
"You mean the one you just finished lavishing on each other's mouths?".
"I meant you.".
"Yeah right."
"My name is Nicole Madden, by the way. Nice to meet you," he said before heading to the hallway.
What a perfect way to screw up as usual, won't you say?
