The Problem Is Ruelle!

Kaiser's POV

After Ruelle left the dining room, Arthur and Raymond also left, together with Aubrey. I gently wiped my lips with a napkin, ready to stand up.

"Kaiser?" Father called my name.

"Yes, father" I said to him. I'm sure he's going to ask me to do something. That's the only reason he would call me.

"You still haven't gotten your mate?" He asked.

Huh? I thought he was going to send me on a mission. I sat down quietly and shook my head.

"Oh my dear, are you alright? I'm sure your friends would have gotten their mates" mom said, having a worried look on her face. How can I tell that I already have a mate and that's my younger sister?

If I tell them, I'm sure they would be disgusted. I better keep it a secret for now.

"I will..." I was about to talk when my father interrupted me.

"That's why I want you and Ruelle to represent our pack at the mating ball" father said. Who am I to complain or say no? He must be thinking of me getting a mate when I go to the mating ball.

"When is it?" I asked.

"Tonight" he said.

"What? Isn't that too early?" I asked.

"I got a late invitation. Besides, it's your friend's pack. What was his name again?" Father asked, rubbing his chin.

"Marco" mother reminded him. Father snapped his finger and smiled at mother.

"Thanks darling" he said and faced me. "It's just two hours ride to his pack. Go with Ruelle. You two should get your mate before the end of the day" he said.

I stood up and bowed.

"If it's the will of the goddess, so shall it be, father. I'll go inform Ruelle about it"

"Good" father said, smiling and I walked away. I rushed upstairs to Ruelle's room. I didn't want to inform her...I don't want to go to any mating ball with her. Maybe it's an opportunity for her to reject me so I'll be able to get a new mate, who knows?

I got to her door and gently knocked the door.

There was no response, but I could perceive a familiar scent that doesn't belong to her.

It's Kain!

I grabbed the handle and dashed into the room. She was on the bed, sleeping...no, unconscious. That bastard was touching her hair as she laid on the bed. His eyes were glued to her that he pretended not to acknowledge my presence.

"What are you doing, Kain?" I asked him.

"I should ask you the same question. How could you barge into our younger sister's room? What if she were naked?" He asked, smirking.

"What did you do to her?" I asked, ignoring what he just said.

He was silent for some seconds before his fingers brushed her face.

"She.. she was calling your name repeatedly. I had to put her to sleep"

That's weird. Ruelle is scared of me, until last night when she agreed to reject me. Why would she call my name? I guess now is not the time to think about it.

I could perceive his scent over her. I hate it! It's f*****g annoying. I was thinking deeply, that I didn't realise when he was in front of me.

"Tell me, brother. Have you finally developed any feelings for our sister?" He asked me.

I didn't know why I hesitated to answer.

"I don't know what you're talking about. Father sent me to take relay some information to her. That's why I'm here" I said and shoved him aside, moving towards her.

Her lips were swollen and I could see traces of blood. It was as if he forced himself on her. I glared at his face and caught him smiling.

Of course, he did!

"If I order you never to meet Ruelle again, what would you do?" I asked. I have more authority than Kain, even if he was born few months after my birth. He's stubborn that he doesn't even listen to father. There's no way he would listen to me, especially if it's related to Ruelle.

"Is that a rhetorical question? Because I don't have an answer. There's no way I'm going to stay away from our younger sister... I don't know what information you have to say to her, but I'll give you some time. Don't go kissing her behind my back" he smirked and walked away.

I'm not a jerk that goes around kissing his sister.

I watched him leave the room and leaned on her desk, folding my hand.

"He's gone. You can open your eyes" I said. She opened her eyes and sat up. I knew she was faking her sleep.

"That jerk hit me hard" she grumbled, touching her neck.

"He said you were calling my name, why?" I asked. She looked at me and turned her face away.

"No reason. What information do you have from dad?" She asked, standing close to me to stare at her reflection on the mirror. She was looking at her bleeding lips. Her hair fell across her face. I held back from pushing the hair away from her face.

She's attractive, I know. But she's my sister. Kain may not have any self control, but I do.

Arthur isn't any different. The only person that's not interested in her is Raymond.

"Prepare yourself, we'll be going to a mating ball together tonight"

"Tonight? Why early?" She asked.

"It's father's message. If you have any questions, go to him and ask" I said.

"But, we agreed to meet tonight"

"You could do it on our way there or our way back home. Anytime is better. If you'll excuse me, I have to get busy" I said and left her room.

I opened the door and was about to leave, when I saw George, Ruelle's knight. He's more like a bodyguard.

"Greetings my prince!" He greeted.

"Welcome back" I said and walked past him.

Ruelle must be excited that George is back. Good for her. But, how do I deal with Kain? That bastard doesn't have any respect at all. Do I have to teach him a lesson before he gets to obey me?

I can't spend any more time. In a few years, I'll be Alpha. By then, I'll have to kill him or get him to submit to me.

Great thing Aubrey isn't set to making her children fight for the alpha seat. It's mine!

Meanwhile, in Aubrey's room...

She raised her hand and slapped her son's cheek.

"I didn't raise you to fall for that t**t! I said you should train yourself!"

"For what, exactly mother?" Kain asked. Raymond stood by the door, with his eye closed. He adjusted the glasses on his face so it won't fall off.

Aubrey groaned in frustration. She thought she would be able to get her hand on the throne, if she acted like a peaceful and harmless concubine, but her sons were not in anyway interested in the throne. The first one was interested in Ruelle while the other one was interested in books and art.

"I was having fun with Ruelle before you called for me. I'll go meet her now" he said and turned to leave.

"What do you think will happen once Kaiser becomes Alpha?" Aubrey asked.

Kain froze and glared at his mother over her shoulder.

"What are you talking about mother? Why should I care?" He asked.

"He'll get rid of you for hanging around his sister"

"He wouldn't dare! Ruelle belongs to me!"

"But, if you become alpha...you could get Ruelle away from everyone and even lock her up, just as you want" she said and Kain became speechless.

She has successfully gotten his attention, but Kain is still no fool.

"I'll think about it! I'm off to meet Ruelle!" He said and walked out of the room.

"Do you think he'll agree to what you say, mother?" Raymond asked.

"I don't know. He better do!"

Raymond pushed back his glasses again and smirked.

"The problem here is Ruelle. If he doesn't comply with your plans, mother... permit me to get rid of the girl"

"That's also an option, which I have to think about" she said, folding her hands. She strolled towards the window and looked at the sky.

Kain...you better not disappoint me.
