Leonard’s POV I didn't have time to process the physics of what I had just witnessed. Pushing my speed, I slammed into the gunman. Extending my claws, I ripped his head clean off his shoulders at the same time as Carol came running from the opposite side of the loading dock, her clothes splattered with blood. "Gloria!" she shrieked, reaching her before I did. Clive collapsed, his arms catching Gloria to break her fall as she slipped into unconsciousness. Carol threw herself beside them, pulling Gloria’s limp form into her lap, cradling her like a child as she sobbed. I ran over, and dropped to my knees beside them, forcing myself to breathe. Beneath the chaos, I focused entirely on my ears. The steady, rhythmic sound of Gloria’s heartbeat, and the smaller flutter of our pup's heartbeat
