Mom stepped forward, wrapping her arms around me and resting her head against my chest to anchor me. I buried my face in her hair, inhaling the familiar, calming scent that is unique to my mother as I held her tightly. "Let's go check on Gloria," Mom murmured, looking up at me. "We already knew he was going to feed us a bullshit story. Don't let him get to you, Leo. We will deal with him when the time is right. For now, our only concern is Gloria and the pup."
"Your mom is right, my boy," Lilith chimed in, leaning forward. "I take it that was her pathetic excuse for an ex?" I nodded stiffly, some of the tension leaving me. "Let's go see your mate.
