I watched the dark form that was Daniel disappear around a rock ledge, and I waited. And waited. And waited. The wind would blow, and then stop, and then whip around. When it wasn’t blowing, I could hear the tiny ice crystals land softly on the snow piled around me. The sound was almost a musical tinkling. Finally the dark form reappeared as Daniel worked his way toward me. I heard him shout, "f**k!" As he got closer, he shouted, "This is the first time in my life I’ve ever been sorry to see the summit of a mountain!" "What does that mean?" Daniel came closer so he didn’t have to shout.
