"Uncle, you're here!" Mercy exclaimed, quickly walking over to Dexter as soon as she saw him. "Yeah, I was worried you'd drink the coffee you made for me, so I rushed over to check," Dexter teased, gently tapping Mercy's nose with his finger, a smile playing on his lips. Mercy giggled and dodged away. "I wouldn't do that," she laughed. In truth, Dexter had come looking for Mercy because she hadn't returned for a while, and he was concerned she might have gotten lost in the company. He hadn't expected to overhear someone speaking boastfully in front of her. Turning to the woman who was unaware of her impending doom, Dexter felt a surge of anger. Sarah was stunned to see the usually serious CEO joking around. But now, under his cold gaze, a chill ran up her spine, making her shiver. Oh no. "Mr. CEO, I was just joking with her. I didn't mean any of it, please don't take it seriously," Sarah stammered, nervously looking at Dexter, hoping for mercy. "Joking? Claiming to be the future CEO's wife in front of my fiancée is quite a unique joke, Secretary Liu," Dexter said, holding Mercy's delicate hand in his palm, not even bothering to glance at Sarah. "Fiancée?" Sarah's eyes widened in shock as she looked at the girl beside the CEO. Mercy listened to their exchange, secretly amused. Uncle was being so mischievous, scaring the woman into stuttering. "The future Mrs. Walker will only be Mercy. As for you, pack your things and go back to your master. I don't want to see you again. Oh, and tell my dear uncle that next time he sends someone, he should pick someone less foolish." The man's words carried a hint of menace. Sarah's face turned pale at his words. So, she had been exposed all along. Mercy glanced at her a couple of times, surprised to learn that this seemingly innocent woman was actually a spy. Who would have thought? Back in the office, Dexter pulled Mercy in front of him. "Mercy, don't listen to what she said. I've never even drunk the coffee she makes." His expression was serious, his dark eyes filled with the image of the girl. "Yeah, I trust you," Mercy replied, meeting his gaze with determination. Dexter felt his heart melt under her gentle eyes. He spoke softly, "I've been severely allergic to women since I was a child. Mercy, you're the only woman I've ever touched. I think it's fate." "Uncle..." Mercy's eyes widened slightly. So that day when he was drugged, he was already suffering from a deadly poison and allergic to women. If she hadn't been there, the consequences would have been unimaginable. Who could be so cruel as to want him dead? Thinking about this, Mercy was even more determined to cure him. "Uncle, no matter what happens, I'll be by your side." "Mercy..." Their eyes met and before they knew it, they were slowly leaning toward each other... Knock, knock, knock— "Boss..." Gavin knocked twice on the door. When no one responded, he opened it and walked in. Seeing the two people so close together, he felt a chill run down his spine and quickly backed out. "Sorry, Boss, I'll come back later." Unfortunately for him, Dexter's cool voice followed, "Gavin, your bonus for next month is gone." No, please! The little person in Gavin's mind waved a tiny handkerchief, on the verge of tears. Mercy blushed and awkwardly returned to her seat. Later that evening, Dexter, worried that Mercy might be hungry, took her out for an early dinner. Afterward, he arranged for someone to drive her home. As Mercy walked through the door, she saw the Rivers couple leaving with Zara. Seeing Mercy return so late from school, Michelle raised an eyebrow, almost blurting out, "Where have you been messing around, you little brat?" But recalling Callan’s attitude over the past few days, she swallowed her words and simply said, "We have some plans to eat out. Sabrina will fix you something for dinner." Zara had clearly dressed up, even covering the slap mark on her face with makeup. Remembering the incident at the school gate, she looked at Mercy with eyes that seemed to want to devour her. But then Zara's eyes shifted and she tugged on Michelle's arm, saying, "Mom, why don't we take my sister along? Maybe the teacher will like her too and take both of us." Michelle wasn't thrilled by the suggestion. This piano teacher was a protégé of Mr. Lennox and had a bit of international fame. It had taken considerable effort and connections from her family to arrange a dinner with her. If Zara could become her student, it might restore some of her standing with Callan. Even though Mercy was the true heiress of the Rivers family, having spent so many years in the countryside, what talent could she possibly have? Michelle thought she would still have to rely on Zara in the future. Mr. Dexter might be showing some interest in Mercy now, but who knows if he's just looking for something new and exciting? It's hard to say what her dad is hoping for. Before she could say anything, Callan spoke up, "Sure, let Mercy come along too. Zara is always so thoughtful, always thinking of her sister." "Hehe, that's because I'm the big sister," Zara said, grabbing Mercy's hand. "Sis, I'm going to become a student of Mr. Lennox's grand-disciple. You should come with me." Mercy wasn't really interested, but when she heard Mr. Lennox's name, she decided to tag along. As they entered the hotel lobby, the family of three walked ahead, chatting happily, while Mercy trailed behind, feeling out of place. Out of the corner of her eye, she noticed something in the corner and stopped, heading towards the East side of the lobby. There, a little boy in a bunny costume was crouched down, staring at the floor. His small frame was hidden by a large plant, so most people wouldn't notice him. "Are you lost?" Mercy crouched down beside him and asked softly. The little boy looked up at her but didn't say anything. Though he wasn't smiling, he was incredibly cute. Mercy was worried he might get snatched by someone bad, so she offered her hand, "How about I help you find your mom?" The boy thought for a moment, then placed his chubby little hand in hers. Mercy took him to the front desk to register him, planning to wait with him on the sofa by the entrance. As they passed a grand piano in the lobby, the boy stopped and in a sweet, childish voice, said his first word, "Piano." Seeing his interest, Mercy sat him on the piano bench. Although he didn't seem to want to play, Mercy decided to play a tune for him. The melody was fresh and light, like a bubbling mountain spring. The boy seemed captivated, reaching his little hands towards the keys. Mercy held him on her lap, gently guiding his little hands step by step. The child turned back to smile at Mercy, revealing two adorable little teeth.
