Ryan trotted toward her, not caring what the staff thought. He felt an urgency to talk to her again.
When he was within earshot, he called out, “April, welcome back.”
As April turned around, the breeze caught her hair, and he resisted the urge to brush it from her face. With her short, blue cotton sundress and sand shoes, she looked at home on the beach. A delicate gold heart pendant twinkled at her chest, and he wondered who it was from. Not her husband, he decided. “How was your trip?”
She turned her face up to his. “Eventful. I’m glad to be back. I went back to Seattle to settle some personal business.”
“I hope it went well.” Ryan’s dress shoes slipped on the sand. “I was just taking a break on the beach. Would you like to walk together?”
“Sure.” She seemed surprised.
