John groaned internally when he saw Morwenna coming down her garden path as he drew level with her cottage.
“Sorry, Morwenna, I need to get home and…” And what? Pack and run away like he’d done a couple of times already this holiday?
“You need to come with me.”
The calm determination in the woman’s voice silenced all his objections.
“You’ve had a shock.”
How did she know? But then she seemed to know quite a lot that she shouldn’t. John wondered if she, too, could change shape. As he followed her into her cottage he wondered what animal she would assume. A cat, maybe. And Nick, what could he turn into? Was the whole world mad and John was the only sane one left in it?
