CHAPTER 2

Getting home that early was the best I could do to avoid my parents, but I couldn't avoid them much longer. I was eventually going to go down for breakfast, but I couldn't avoid them much longer.

" Hey Clare bear " I groaned into my pillow. Now is not the time for this.

"Mom?"

" Honey, freshen up, it's time for breakfast" hearing breakfast woke me up immediately.

" Be right down" I answered and jumped from bed and freshened up and rushed down in my pj.

I paused when I got to the dining room and imagine the surprise on my face when I saw mr you owe me $10,000. I groaned and ran back to my room. She f*****g betrayed me. How could she choose him over me?

"Clare bear wait, please I'm sorry", ignoring her and continued towards my bedroom. I was about to shut the door when she stopped it.

"Please sis, I'm sorry it will never happen again. I will order as much pizza as you want." that got my attention.

"Go on" I urged her to continue.

"I will never complain if you eat too much, I will let you eat steak and even prepare 3 turkeys for Thanksgiving" I glared at her but couldn't hold my anger anymore and smiled at her.

"You know I can never stay mad at you, Rissa."

"I know and no man will ever come between us ever again."

"Not even you own me $10000 out there?" I asked her, trying to mimic his voice.

"Not even Mr grumpy out there", I smiled and hugged my sister. Great, the sis's are back. I skipped the stairs and ran back downstairs with my sister trailing after me.

"Honey, where were you? Breakfast is getting cold" I rolled my eyes at my mom's statement. Looking at the food, you could tell it was still very hot by the steam coming out of it.

"We had to settle something but we are here now and I'm starving."

"You are always starving" she told me and I stuck my tongue out at her.

"Mom remembers how we had to do Thanksgiving without turkey 3 years ago, when someone decided to eat the whole turkey"

"It was getting cold and I didn't want anyone to eat cold turkey, besides I'm a growing child", I replied with food stuffed in my mouth.

"Manner Clare bear, do not speak with food in your mouth". I rolled my eyes. Mom hasn't changed.

"So Stephen, how is business doing?" I frowned as soon as the conversation moved towards my sister's Idiotic fiancé.

" Very well sir, It seems we will be making our first trillion this year with the way things are going."

"That's good. I also want to thank you for allowing Cleo to start working with you even with no experience at all."

"Yes, because of the no experience, she will be working directly with me ". I choked on the water I was drinking. Making me cough so hard

"Are you ok honey?" My mom asked me while patting my back I threw a glare at grumpy and he smirked, raising an eyebrow at me.

"I'm fine mom, water went down the wrong pipe" I said out of breath.

I stood up ready to leave when my mom stopped me.

"Where are you going? breakfast is not done."

"I'm not hungry anymore"

"I can see why". I looked down and the plates were empty. Even the extras were gone.

"Sorry I was hungry". They were all watching me and burst out laughing, everyone was laughing except Stephen watching me. I looked him in his eyes, challenging him to do or say something stupid, but he took a glass of water and started drinking.

"Laugh all you want but food is life, I will be right back". I went to the kitchen, opened the fridge and took out bread and peanut butter. I went straight to the sitting room, sat on the couch and started eating.

"I see your stomach is made out of a well" I heard Mr grumpy pants say.

"And I see you don't know how to mind your business". I replied, rolling my eyes.

" Do you know you are talking to your boss?"

" You do know you have half a brain." I have no idea what I just said but it sounded cool in my head. I could hear him chuckle but I ignored him and continued eating my bread.

"You will resume work by 6am" I burst out laughing, looking like Mr Stephen wanted to frustrate me.

"I will resume whatever time I like and there is nothing you can do about it. In-law" I laughed so hard while he glared at me.

"Tomorrow we will know who is the boss, and for your information my ten thousand dollars is coming out from your first pay", he turned and walked away.

"I will call you sis love you" she shouted as she followed her fiancé out. Hold up $10,000 out of my first pay, how much is my first pay?

"Love you too". I took a deep breath feeling sad. Okay, I am done feeling sad. I started eating my bread again. My mom saw me eating and chuckled.

"I'm happy you have started working. You are buying groceries next month". I burst out laughing and saw the look on my mom's face.

"Mom, you got to be kidding me. "

"Missie, you eat like people in the army "

"Fine. Whatever", I continued eating my bread. Nobody, I mean nobody can come between me and my food.

Waking up in the morning was never a big deal for me, but today standing up from bed seems like a big deal. I looked at the clock on my table and it was 7:45am. I stood up lazily and went to freshen up. Put on the only suit I had. It was an ash pencil skirt, a navy blue shirt, an ash coloured jacket with blue and silver hoop earrings to match. I put on my blue heels a wrist watch and a sliver bracelet. I don't like wearing makeup because it makes me look older. I looked at my reflection in the mirror and I might just have said damm I look good.

I took my mum's car keys and headed for the garage, took her red convertible and drove it to work. Looking at my wristwatch, it was almost nine by the time I got there. I walked into the building where everyone was staring at me. With my head up high, I walked to the elevator and pressed the top floor. I mean all CEOs' offices are always on the top floor. Waiting for the elevator to close but it didn't. That was when I noticed you needed a key card. I called the security and he called the grumpy moron to tell him I was there. Mr grumpy moron took 30mins making me stand in my heels before granting me access, he is so dead.

When I got to the top floor, I was already planning revenge.

There was a secretary sitting there eyeing me. I ignored her and rolled my eyes, taking a seat waiting for Mr Grumpy.

"I thought I told you to be here by 6am". I rolled my eyes, pausing the game I was playing and raised my head, looking at him straight in the eye.

"And I told you I was resuming by 9."

"You are acting really irresponsible right now."

"You are acting like a real spoilt brat". Seriously, was that all I could think of? I mentally slapped myself.

"Who is the spoilt brat here?" He asked me, clearly getting angry.

I rolled my eyes and looked at my nails like they were more important than the person standing in front of me.

"I can see you are not clearly ready to work."

"Oh, I am, but not just with you" I shot back,. That seemed to take him by surprise.

"Come with me, we are going out, Linda. Send any important calls to my cell", he took my hand and dragged me to the elevator. I pulled my hands from his and slapped him as soon as the door closed.

"Don't you ever touch me" his mouth was hanging open by the time I walked out.

I took out the keys to mum's car and drove away leaving a puzzle, Stephen standing in front of his building.

I got home and no one was around. Great I took off my clothes and lay on my bed with just my bra and panties. I picked up my phone and saw a text message.

Clare bear Stephen called me, are you okay? Real mature Stephen

I am fine and I am rolling my eyes right now.

Cleo Please, you have to work hard. This is going to help your career.

Fine, but tell your fiancé not to ever invade my personal space or I will rain down hell.

Lol typical Cleo, what are you up to?

The only thing that can cheer me out of this mood is my best friend food. I stood up, got dressed and drove to my sister's place.
