Chapter 3. Mate

I woke up bright and early the next day so I could have breakfast with my family before our 8-hr. Journey John would be dropping me off at our grandparents’ pack since my dad didn’t want me to make the journey alone.

I took a quick shower and got ready for the day, double checked that I had everything that I needed and headed downstairs to our kitchen. Everyone was already at the table when I got there which is surprising since I normally go to drag the twins out of the bed in the morning.

I made my plate and sat down in between John and my dad. The twins were sitting across from me bickering about who could eat the most. Ryan is at the end of the table shoving pancakes in his mouth texting.

I sat and looked around the room, I am going to miss them. My beast both whimper at the thought of having to leave our family. I know it is only going to be for the next 2 months till my birthday and that is not too long to some people but me and my bros are close.

This blows but what can I do about it?

After everyone is done eating John tells me it is time to go. We head to the door, and I see everyone is there with their bags.

Hey, what's going on here? Why does everyone have their suitcases?

Yes, now come on Ryan tells me as the twins pull me to the door. I give my dad one last hug and hurry out the door with my brothers.

We get to the hospital in about 20 minutes, everyone heads up to Jess’s room when we get close, I notice John is acting weird. I tell the twins and Ryan to head into the room so I can see what is going on with John. Soon as the coast is clear I ask.

John, what is going on?

Something is going on with Somil, he is anxious and won’t chill out and he is always so level headed and calm.

I think I know what is going on. Jess turned 18 a week ago while my brother was at our uncle’s pack. I couldn’t be happier Jess has had a crush on my brother for years. He has had a crush on her as well even though he won’t admit it, but I see the way he looks at Jess when he thinks no one is paying attention.

My brother is still standing there 3 look puzzled, sigh my stars, I just grab his hand and drag him into Jess's hospital room.

Soon as we crossed the threshold, I saw them make eye contact. He yells mate.

I see the biggest smile on Jess’s face, I tell my little brother to come on so we can give them some alone time. I am going to go grab some much-needed coffee.

John POV

I can’t believe I met my mate, and she is amazing. I couldn't ask for a better mate and queen.

I have always adored Jess. No one knew about my crush even though I think Tiny might have an idea, but she has never said anything but to be honest who knows what goes through that girl's head most of the time.

My sister drags our little brothers out of the room to give me and my Queen some time to talk.

Jess just smiles at me and pats the bed next to her so I can come sit down and tells me she will not bite.

Apparently, I am standing there staring at her like a loony. I go to make a move to come sit next to her and of course I trip and fall embarrassing myself in front of my mate. My dragon snickers at me. I told him to zip it in my defense. The chair came out of nowhere.

My mate is laughing at me till she starts to choke. So I ran to get her some cold water and you can guess what happened next.

I filled her cup up with ice cold water and somehow some way I managed to spill the water on her.

I am normally not like this, never being a shy guy but being in the same room as my beautiful mate.

But this girl then reduced me to blubbering fools.

I help dry my mate off who is still laughing at me might add.

We sat and talked for an hour before my siblings came back into the room.

Tiny Pov

We get back to the room and John is about red as a tomato and Jess is still chuckling.

What did we miss? I ask the room and John turns redder; I didn’t think that he could get brighter.

Jess starts to laugh and tells me she will tell me later. We all talked some more, and I told her what happened at school. She was shocked and started to cry and thanked me. I tell her nonsense. She is my family sister from another mister. I explain to her what happened during the fight, and I can see she is concerned and is happy that I am leaving. I tell her I will be back every other weekend to see her and we will video call every day. I give her a hug and leave out with my little brother's trailing behind me.

We head to the car and wait for John to sat his final goodbye. I climb in the front seat Ryan take the middle and the twins hop in the back.

I connect my bluetooth to the car stereo and turn on my spotify playlist.

Revenge by Maria the Scientist starts the play.

I lean back my chair and start to sing to the song.

Ryan starts to play his switch and the twins are going back and forth about anime.p

Just as Sweet but a Psycho by Ava Max came on John is walking out the hospital.

Oh my stars is he still blushing, I can't believe I have never seen my older brother so awkwardly adorable.

I am never going to let him live this down.

He gets in the car with the biggest smile in the world.
