Chapter 7 The Journey

Tiny’s Pov

We decided to head to the car to wait for John to finish with his mate. I hopped in the front and hooked up my phone to the car for some road trip tunes. Ryan got in the middle seat and turned on his switch, and the twins hopped in the back. I started to sing the next song that came on called Revenge but Mariah the Scientist. I am so happy for him that he found his mate, no one could be better for him than Jess and I am not just saying this because she is my best friend, but because she is caring, smart and compassionate she will be a great queen for our people.

I see John finally exiting the hospital, “oh my stars” is he blushing. I have never seen my overprotective stern brother so awkwardly adorable before.

He opened the door, still smiling from ear to ear. I couldn't help but tease him a little.

Looks like someone got the girl of the dreams I snicker.

He looks at me with wide eyes. How did you know he asked?

Our brother Ryan comments, dude. we all know you have been crushing on Jess for the last year.

John's mouth just drops, and we all laugh at him. Then Damion comments it’s not like you have been discreet. We can all see the way you look at her."

Well damn I thought I did a better job at hiding it. John says, shaking his head.

Nope, I replied, popping the P. Well, let's hit the road so we can get you back quickly to your mate.

He starts the car, and we are on the way, 2 hours into the drive and a friendly debate with my brothers over anime. My stomach started to growl so loud that it could be heard over the music and my brothers bickering. Everyone starts to laugh, for someone so tiny you sure eat a lot John comments, look in my defense I am a growing shifter I tell him he just laughed and pulls into the next exit so we can stop and get food.

We pulled into a local burger spot that was next to a gas station. John tells us to go grab food, and he will fill up the tank and grab some road snacks, He gives me his card and tells me to grab him whatever.

Me and my little brother’s head into the burger joint and place our orders. The people here are looking at us crazy because we ordered enough food to feed an army.

As we were waiting for our food, I got the weird feeling as if I was being watched. I look around, and I don't see anything out of the ordinary or sense anything, so I try to brush it off, but the uneasiness is getting worse. Katia tells me that she does not like this feeling and that my brothers and I need to get out of here. Karema says that she feels the same. She senses that we may be in danger but does not know where it is coming from because the person is cloaking themselves.

Damion senses that something is off with me and links me to see what's wrong, I tell him that I feel someone is watching us and that my wolf and dragon are uneasy. He immediately grabs our food and links our brothers about what is going on. As we left the restaurant, all three of my little brother’s flanked around me on high alert till we got to the car. John can sense something is wrong when he sees everyone’s behavior. He asks no questions and immediately gets in the car and starts it, we peel out of the gas station like a bat out of hell. When we got a couple miles down the road, John asked what happened. I tell him the feeling that someone was watching us in the restaurant and the uneasiness that my wolf and dragon felt. He nods in understanding and is on full alert like the rest of us.

Another hour on the road, and we passed the town’s exit, and the feeling of uneasiness left and my stomach no longer in knots but back to growling again. I finally ate my cold food. When my brother's see me start to eat, they finally let their guard down a little and start eating their food as well. Now, with a happy stomach, I get comfortable. My eyes grow heavy, and sleep is about to take over, but just as I close my eyes, that feeling of uneasiness comes back. I immediately pop up on full alert. John looks at me and asks if it is back. I tell him yes, He curses he tells me he thinks that we are being followed he had noticed a car a couple miles back that looked suspicious. He speeds up some, and so does the car behind us, confirming his suspicions. s**t was all I could say.

John POV

I was on cloud 9 when I hopped in the car with my siblings, Tiny started to tease me, which confirmed that she knew that I had a crush on her best friend. What I didn’t expect was that my brothers knew as well, I couldn’t believe it. I thought I was hiding it better than that, but Damion confirmed that was not the cause. Oh well doesn’t matter anyway because she turned out to be my mate. We have been on the road for about 2 hours now, Tiny is humming aimlessly to her playlist in the front, lost in her own thoughts. Ryan is behind me paying the switch while Darren and Damion are in the back seat, debating on who could win out of a fight between One Punch Man and Goku. Of course, Tiny had to add her two cents into the conversation. She sighed and said she sides with Damion it would be Goku hands down, now Ryan has put his switch down and entered the conversation siding with Darren.

I was going to make a comment about it, but before I got a chance Tiny’s stomach growled so loud it was the only thing that could be heard in the car. We all started to laugh at her while she turned red, and that just made me laugh more.

How can someone so tiny eat so much?

She looked at me, shrugged, and said, "I am a growing shifter." I need to eat like 5 times a day with snacks. All I can do is chuckle. You would never know with how tiny she is that she can’t eat like 3 grown men. I feel sorry for whoever her mate is. He is going to spend a fortune just to feed her.

I turn on the next exit so we can grab some grub at a burger place that popped up on the map next to a gas station.

I sent my sibling to go grab our food while I got gas and some road snacks, I put the snack in the car and started to fill the tank when Soto told me something was wrong, I saw my sibling rushing out of the restaurant. Damion and Darren are flanked on Tiny’s sides while Ryan is in front, and all of them look on high alert. I hurried and put the gas cap on the car and ran to get into the drivers’ seat while Ryan did a quick scan before hopping in the car, too. When he gets into the car, I quickly peel off, I drive like my ass is on fire.
