Chapter 16 Distant Memory

John's POV cont. “What on earth would she need to tell us? What happened when she was passed out?” I can't help but think. When I went to hug her, I sensed a power spike. It was only for a split second, but I swear I sensed it. “You did, I felt it too,” Somil tells me. The elevator dings to my floor, and the doors open for me to exit. But before I could, Grandma stepped into the elevator. “I was just coming to get you,” I told her she laughed. “I sensed Tiny was awake and was on my way down,” she told me. “Yeah, as soon as she woke up, she said she was hungry and needed to talk to everyone,” I said. Grandma laughed and said, “Of course she is hungry she hasn’t eaten in almost two days, you know how she is.” I laughed, “Yeah Tiny can eat like 2 full-grown mountain men,” I said to my grandma. “Did she say what she wanted to talk to us about?” Grandma asked. “No, but me and Somil sensed a power spike,” I answered. “I sensed it too when I felt her presence returned. s**t, I was afraid of this,” Grandma mumbles out. “I wonder what she means by that,” I think to myself. “Something is coming, and we need to be prepared,” Somil says to me. We get to the hospital bay. Not much is said on our journey, and Grandma and I seem to both be lost in thought. We get in the room, and Grandma rushes to hug Tiny; I sit on the right side of Tiny bed next to her. Grandma sits on the right and holds Tiny petting her head. She asks her what is going on. What Tiny said next shocked us all. She talked to Mom. “You talked to mom?” I couldn’t help but ask. “Yes, she told me to tell you to stop doubting yourself, you are strong, don't second guess yourself. You are becoming the great king she always thought you could be, and she is proud of you,” Tiny said. I have tears in my eyes. It was like all the doubt and worry were erased. “Somil, did you hear that?” I asked my dragon. He perked up with his chest, sticking out pride rolling through him, happy to hear our mother's praises. My mind was still reeling from what Tiny had said, I missed what she said to Ryan and Daimon. I did hear what she said to Darren. “What was that about?” I thought before I could ask what that was all about, Grandma interrupted. Tiny told us that our mother had unlocked one of her gifts, which would allow her to sense dark magic. That will come in handy, we finished up our food and started talking about everything that had been happening. Tiny started to yawn, and Grandma told us all to leave and get some rest. We have a long day ahead of us tomorrow. We all hugged Tiny and said our goodbyes, I headed to my room, thoughts still swarming my brain. “Tomorrow will be a long day,” I tell Somil. “Rest up, my human. we will need all the energy we can get for what is to come these next couple of days,” Somil said. I am too tired to think of what he means. I get comfy in my bed and drift off to sleep. Phillis POV My mind is still on what Tiny has told us; Charlie must have sensed my troubled thoughts. My mate comes up and hugs me from behind, “Tell me what’s on your mind, Mi Amor?” Charlie asked me. I tell him my worries, “I am worried that a premonition I had long ago is coming into play. Tiny getting her gift unlocked early is a sign that things are going to get worse than I originally expected.” “Don’t fret, Mi Amor, we will work through this as a team. Nothing is going to stop us. Now get some rest knowing how Carmen she will be here first in the morning,’ Charlie said to me. I laughed because I knew it was true, Carmen was always a morning person. I can’t tell you how many times I have awoken to Carmen barging into my room at the crack of dawn when we were growing up. She would always drag me to training with her even though I didn’t have a wolf. Our mothers thought it was a good idea for me to be able to defend myself if the occasion ever arose. Our mothers met when they were younger. My mother was in training to be a healer with my aunt Rochelle. The coven was called Moonlit. It was a coven of healers; almost everyone was a healer of some sort. My aunt Rochell and my mother were twins born under the blood moon. I lay down in my bed, and my thoughts drifted to the memory of our parents telling me, Carmen, and Trey about a great prophecy and the story of how our parents met. Camen and I had just turned 16. We share the same birthday; I am just 5 minutes older than her. It was right before our birthday party we were called into King Trais's office. When we got to the office, both of our parents were there waiting for us. “What is going on? Are we in trouble?” Trey asked. “No one is in trouble, have a seat, we need to talk to you,” King Trais said. We sat down and waited for the adults to continue; my mother started talking first. “I want to tell you kids' story about a prophecy and how we all met. Once, there was a prophecy about a set of twins that were born under the blood moon that would come into great power. The power was gifted to them by Hecate herself, to aid them in the war that is to come. The power that the twins possessed would be passed along to their children and their children. Until there was a child that would bring the beginning to the end of the upcoming war and would be able to unite all supernatural creatures together. But for the power to be fully unlocked, the child will have to be marked as their true mate. My mother told me only some people knew parts of the prophecy but not the entirety of it. Her mother told her that the goddess came to visit her in her dream when she was pregnant with my mother and aunt and told her the entirety of the prophecy. She told her not to tell anyone, even her beloved, about what she knew. Only to tell me and my aunt when we came of age. My grandmother kept her word to the goddess but somehow my grandfather found out. He became power-hungry and tainted with greed. He sold my mother and aunt off to be married to a couple of his allies' heirs who were just as power-hungry as him. My mother told me that when my grandmother found out his plans for her babies, she took my mother and aunt and ran. They were able to live in hiding for several years running for the coven they once called home. My mother and aunt were 18 when my grandfather found them and brought them back. He locked my grandmother up and used her to threaten my mother and aunt into marrying the husband he had chosen for her.
