Chapter 11 Sleeping Beauty

Darren POV

I was sitting in the waiting room for my grandmother to come out. Tiny is in. The doctor is there taking blood to run tests to see why she is not waking up.

When Grandma Phillis comes out of the room, she stops to let Grandpa Charlie know the doctor is taking blood to run tests and will take them to his office so we can make some calls. We took the elevator to the 4th floor and headed to my grandpa's office. I took a seat and called my dad.

My father answered the phone. "Hello, you old geezer. Did the kids get there, okay?"

"Dad, it's me!"

"Darren, what's wrong? What happened? Is everyone okay?"

"Dad, calm down; we were attacked on the way here. John is okay, Damion is fine, and Ryan is slightly injured. He should be up and moving around in no time."

"What about Tiny?" He cut me off.

"I am not sure, Dad. They injected her with something, and she still hasn't woken up, yet the doctors are running tests to see what they had given her."

"WHAT!!!! I am on my way."

"Dad, you do not need to come; we will take care of it."

"What do you mean there is no need for me to come? My princess needs me."

"No, Dad, we need you there to investigate."

"Investigate?"

"Yeah, Dad, someone had to have tipped them off. The only people with knowledge that we were leaving to come to Grandma's and Grandpa's kingdom were you, me, John, Damion, Ryan, and Jess. So that means someone had to be spying on us."

"s**t, why didn't I think of that," dad said.

Grandma grabbed the phone off me.

"Lexi," she said to my father. I chuckled because Gram was the only person besides our mother who could get away with calling my father Lexi.

"Has anyone been in the palace lately for repairs or security updates, or have you had any new staff start recently?" She asked my dad.

"Not that I can think of, but I will talk to Ramond, the head of security, and Josh, my second in command, to see if they can find anything."

"Well, you do that. Your dad and I have everything under control over here. I will make sure I keep you updated and Lexi."

"Yes, mother?"

"Find out who this rat is that put my granddaughter in harm's way, and show them no mercy!"

"Oh, you know there will be no mercy for anyone that comes for my babies, but keep me updated, Mother, and tell Darren I will call him a little later. Love you, mother, bye."

My grandma hung up the phone and told me my dad said he would call me later.

I made a couple more phone calls, and when I finished, Grandma returned to the hospital wing to check on everyone.

Everyone was in the waiting room outside Tiny's room when we got there.

"Any news? I asked.

"Nope," John said, popping the p; we are still waiting for the doctor to return with the results.

Just then, the doors to the corridor opened, and the doctor came walking in.

We swarmed him, asking 50 questions at once. The doctor put his hand up, and everyone stopped talking.

The test just came back from the lab; Tatina has a tremendous amount of wolfsbane and silver in her system. But there is something else, too. It had magical properties to it.

Let me look. Grandma asked.

Doctor Whitaker nodded and showed Grandma the results; Grandma's face frowned when the doctor passed her the labs.

"What's wrong, Grandma?" I asked; everyone looked at her in concern.

"It's a sleeping spell," she said.

"Well, that's great," John said," you can break it."

"That is the problem, John. I need to find out what type of sleeping spell was used. If I try to break it without knowing what kind, it can cause more harm than good."

"s**t," we all said in unison.

"Do you still have the blood sample from Tatiana?" my grandma asked the doctor.

"I haven't destroyed it, yet I was going to do that after sharing the results with you, "the doctor said.

"Good," my grandma said take me to your office so I can run some tests on the blood that is left to see what spell was used.

They left together to go to his office so Grandma could run her test.

We waited for what seemed to be hours before Grandma came rushing back in.

"I found it. "Grandma said, "It is an old spell I haven't seen in centuries. I have most of the plants I need to make an antidote, but 2 I would have to get. It will take me a couple of days since this planet only grows in the fae kingdom."

"Okay, I will call Jacob and let him know what is going on and that you are on the way to his kingdom," Grandpa Charlie said.

Grandpa Charlie stepped out of the wing to call Papa J and tell him Grandma Phillis was coming to his kingdom.

John sat beside me and asked me how the conversation with Dad went. I told him Dad was trying to come but persuaded him to stay. He told me good job and stood up.

John turned to all of us and said that we all needed to get some food and some rest. Grandma will not be back for some time.

I agreed that I could use a hot shower and food I had yet to eat since lunchtime yesterday.

I stopped by the palace kitchen to grab some food and went to my room to eat and shower.

I got out of the shower and laid down for a little bit. I woke up to someone shaking me when I came to it was Damion.

"Dude, what are you doing here?"

"I was letting you know grandma is back, and she finished working on the antidote."

"WHAT? WHEN DID SHE GET BACK? WHY DID NO ONE WAKE ME UP EARLIER?"

"Whoa, whoa, whoa, calm down," my twin told me.

"She got back 2 hours ago, and we tried to wake you up, but you didn't answer, so Grandma said to let you sleep."

"Now, get dressed so we can head downstairs to the hospital."

I hurried up and dressed, and we went out the door quickly.

When we got to the hospital wing, everyone else was already there.

"Any news?" I asked. John looked at us and said Grandma just gave her the antidote, so we are waiting for that to take effect.
