1087 Words
Phillis POV cont. After hours of planning and brewing the necessary potions, they were ready. After dinner, they waited for all the adults to be out cold. They snuck into the garden and took the cloaking potion that was brewed earlier. They took the servant corridors to get to my grandfather’s office, and my mother picked the lock. She and Noah went in while Rochelle and Malakhi stood guard outside the door. My mother told me that they searched everywhere till they stumbled upon a secret room behind grandfather's desk. The room was filled with ledgers, old books, and scrolls, Noah found building plans. The plans were of a secret staircase and room under a Hecate statue in the middle of the maze at the back of the garden. They knew if he was going to hide something that precious, he would hide it there. Everyone met back in the garden to plan the next step in action. Malakhi suggested that we do everyone with a sleep potion so we can slip out into the night. Aunt Rochelle said she would take care of the finances; if they were going to run, they needed to be able to hide, and for that, they needed money. Noah said that he would secure the rides; it was 10 miles to get to the gates. My mother said she would take care of supplies; it would be a while before they could stop, so they needed to be ready for everything. “Wait how would they be able to drug everyone?” Trey asked. “Malakhi came up with the idea. My mother said it was quite genius,” my mother answered. In the morning, while everyone was having breakfast, Malakhi suggested they should have a small engagement party later that evening before his family left to go back to their coven. The adults all agreed, excited about the news, thinking that the kids were all happy with the arrangement. While the adults were planning the engagement party, they were too distracted to notice what their children were up to. My mother snuck into the medical wing and stole supplies, and she raided the pantry. She, Malakhi, and Aunt Rochelle made travel bags for everyone. Noah brewed the sleeping potion. When it started to get closer to the time Malakhi and my mother met with the head chef, they told him that they wanted to make a special treat for everyone as a thank you. He thought it was a delightful idea. He gave them access to the kitchen and a couple of cookie recipes. When the dough was done, my mother grabbed the sleeping potion from Noah, and they mixed it in the dough. Later that night, the party went off without a hitch. Malakhi, my mother, and Aunt Rochelle gathered baskets with cookies and passed them out to everyone. Noah took a horse and rode down to the guard station to give them some cookies, too. Everyone met up at the entrance of the maze in the garden for the spell to take effect, and before long, the only sound you could hear were the crickets. When they were sure everyone had passed out, they made their way through. My mother told us it took them 20 minutes to figure out how to open the entrance. “How did they get it open?” Trey asked. “It was Aunt Rochelle’s blood. She accidentally cut her hand when they were trying to push the statue, “my mother told him. When they got down the stairs, they followed a path that led them to the back room. They found 3 cells back there. The first one was empty. The second one had a young man in it who looked no older than 20. The last cell had a young girl in it about 18 years old, my mother told me even in her sorry state she was the most beautiful girl she had ever seen. She had chocolate skin, white hair, and beautiful purple and silver eyes. My mother told me she got the cell open and the girl and told the girl to come on they were getting her out of there. The girl wasted no time running out of the cell. Before they made their escape, the girl begged them to let the boy in the second cell out. “Did they?” I asked my mother. “They did. He was pretty bad off, so Noah had to partly carry him,” she told me. They were able to make it to the hideout to recoup a little and assess the young lady and gentleman’s injuries. Everyone introduced themselves. The young lady’s name was Azura, and the young man’s name was Roman. “Wait Uncle Ramon?” everyone said. My mother just chuckled and said, “Yes Uncle Ramon.” “Wait Uncle Ramon is the king of the vampires. Why did your grandfather have him?” Carmen asked. “I am not sure, Ramon never wanted to talk about it, so we never pushed him.” “I am not sure, Ramon never wanted to talk about it, so we never pushed him.” They were able to get to the next town over before the adults woke up and figured out what happened. They traveled for a couple of days until they got to a pier and were able to hide on a shipping boat. When they got to land, they were able to get in contact with Ramon’s aunt. She hired a witch to come and collect them and put them up in a cabin in the woods. My mother told me that that little cabin had become their home. Ramon’s aunt thought it was best for them all to live there until they met their mates. Malakhi and Ramon ended up being mates they found out on Malakhi’s 18th birthday. Noah found his beloved and moved her into the cabin with them. My Aunt Rochelle, Azura and my mother met their mate in the capital when they were summoned by the witch's council to testify against their grandfather. “What about my grandmother?” Carmen asked. “She met her mate a week later when she was out collecting wood for the cabin and stumbled upon your grandfather. He was being attacked by rouges and was in very bad shape. Your grandmother fought the rouges off and brought your grandfather back to the cabin and nursed him back to health.”
