Can't Say No

*4 years later* "Ella will you wake up already?! We're gonna be late to the meeting!", Gabriella screeched.     I groaned in annoyance before sitting up yawning. After rubbing the sleep from my eyes, I swung my legs around and couldn't help but grimace as my feet hit the cold floor. I quickly rushed to the bathroom, turning the light on and flinching from the sudden brightness. "Ugh why must we always have meetings so early in the morning.", I grumbled. I jumped as a voice sounded behind me. "How is 12 o'clock noon considered early in the morning?" "f**k Gabi, hasn't anybody ever told you not to sneak up behind people? What if I had a knife? Or a gun?", I growled angrily. Gabriella shrugged her shoulders unfazed by my anger. "s**t happens I guess. Now hurry up and get ready, you know my dad hates it when we're late." "I'm hurrying I'm hurrying, damn." I growled out.     Once she left, I hurried to the closet and quickly rummaged through my clothes before finally settling on a plain pair of black jeans and a black skull tank top. With one last look in the full mirror on the back of the door, I grabbed my black ankle boots and ran downstairs. Gabriella was sitting on the bar stool as I descended the stairs. She was typing away on her phone before looking up and rolling her eyes. "Really Ella? Out of everything you have to wear, you chose the most goth thing in your closet?", Gabby sighed in aggravation. "Hey now," I replied while doing an over dramatic twirl, "I think I look rather fabulous." "Goddess help me.", Gabby groaned. "Let's go before my dad has our heads."   ****** "Well it was nice of you guys to join us.....15 minutes late.", the Alpha stated in an irritated manner.     Gabby and I held our heads down in embarrassment before walking towards the front and taking our seats. As the alpha continued his meeting, I began to zone out. Finally the meeting came to a close and everybody started to disperse. As we went to stand up, Alpha Richard walked up to us with an agitated look on his face. "Gabriella? Isabella? Mind telling me why you both were late?", he asked with a raised brow.     Before Gabby could say anything, I quickly stepped forward. "It was my fault Uncle Richard. I forgot to set my alarm and it made us late. Gabby was late because she waited for me after I told her not too. So if anyone is to blame, it's me."     I watched as my uncle let out a sigh while rubbing his temples. "Goddess, you are like your mother in more ways than one." He sighed. I couldn't help the slight pang that hit my heart at the talk of my mother. Before I could dwell on my sadness to long, my uncle cleared his throat. "Girls, have something important to discuss with you guys today. If you will follow me to the office, away from prying ears, we can sit down."     Gabby and I both looked at each other in confusion before following the alpha back to the packhouse. As we stepped into his office, we waited patiently as he locked the door and sat down. We walked over silently, taking our seats in the chairs across from his desk. "Dad? What's going on?", Gabby asked in concern.     I watched as Uncle Richard let out a deep sigh. I leaned forward slightly as my anxiety grew. "Uncle Richard....what's going on?" I finally asked. "Girls......with the amount of rogue attacks happening lately......I've had to make....decisions.", he stated slowly.  "What kind of decisions dad?", Gabby asked suddenly.      Uncle Richard hesitated before looking up at us. "I had to speak with Alpha Ash of the Blood Moon Pack....to form an alliance with him...." Before he could continue, I stood up shocked. "But Uncle Richard, they're ruthless! Not to mention, forming an alliance always costs something." As soon as I said that I froze. "Uncle Richard what did you do.....?" "I....I had to agree to marry my daughter to him." He stated with guilt. "WHAT!?", Gabriella screamed. "DAD HOW COULD YOU!? HE. WILL. KILL. ME!", she sobbed. Tears started to run down her face as she yelled at her dad.  "Sweetheart....please understand....", Uncle Richard started. "No dad you listen! I will not do this! If mom was still here she would be furious with you!", she screamed before leaving the office, slamming the door behind her.      I tore my gaze away from the door and looked at my uncle. I watched as a single tear slid down his cheek before he quickly wiped it away. After a moment, I stood up from my chair. "I will talk to her Uncle Richard.....but I really wish you would reconsider this decision.", I whispered before walking out of the room.     I quickly ran down the hallway looking for Gabby. After asking everybody I saw, I finally ran outside and saw her down by the pond. I slowed down and carefully approached her, her sniffles hit my ears as I sat down next to her. "Why would he do this to me?", she cried softly. "He will kill me as soon as he sees me Iz. You know he only wants warriors.....I'm not a warrior Ella....I can't fight! Hell I can't even stand the sight of blood! I'm...weak." she finished in a whisper.     We sat in silence as I thought about what she said, before I looked up at her. "You're right." "What?" she looked up in shock. "You're right Gabby. He would kill you. Let's face it, you're not a warrior. You don't fight. You're.....too gentle.", I paused as an idea cross my mind. "But I'm not." I whispered. "Ella....what are you saying.", Gabby asked. "What I'm saying is....I'll go." "But Ella....you can't, he said the daughter of the Alpha.", Gabby said in sadness. "Exactly.....Gabby in a sense, I am his daughter." She looked at me in confusion, her eyes asking me to go on. "Gabby, Uncle Richard took me in after.....well him and Aunt Clarissa took me in as their own. They looked at me as their child.....I'm a warrior Gabby. I have been trained to fight and have pushed myself to be the strongest female fighter.....I can do this Gabby." I looked up at her with tears in my eyes.     I could see the happiness and sadness swirl in her chocolate colored eyes as we embraced each other. After a moment, we pulled apart, wiping away our tears as we sniffled. "So what do we do now?", Gabby asked uncertain. "We go tell Uncle Richard."  ****** "Have you girls lost your minds?", Uncle Richard asked in shock.     After we left the pond we immediately went back to the pack house in search of Uncle Richard. He was still in his office when we found him and we told him our plan. At first he completely lost it. Yelling and screaming before he finally settled down to where he was now. "Uncle......I feel this would be better...for all of us. Gabby isn't a fighter Uncle. You know this, I know this, and Gabby sure as hell knows this. She wouldn't last a second with Alpha Ash. I can. I am a natural born fighter. He would have a use for me. You know how his pack is. They don't want any one who is weak. They would have her scouring the dishes if not something horrendously worse. Please...let me do this. You have done so much for me after everything that has happened.....this is my way of paying you back." I finished.     We sat in silence for a while before my uncle finally looked up. I could see the uncertainty in his eyes as he finally let out a sigh of defeat. "Okay....I will notify Alpha Ash in the morning that we have come to a decision." he finally stated.     I nodded my head slowly. I didn't know when, but I knew my life was about to change. For better or for worse, that I didn't know, for I was about to walk into the wolf's den.
