"He's a man with a complex background. On the surface, he runs a hotel, but in reality, he's the boss of several underground casinos and nightclubs. His name is Mark. Did your mom know him or, perhaps, cross him?"
Caroline shook her head. "No way. My mom was just an insurance saleswoman. Though she handled VIP memberships for high-end clubs to meet her sales targets, she exclusively dealt with wealthy ladies. She would never willingly engage with male clients, let alone someone with a 'special' background!"
