Elijah gently called her name, as if he were a true older brother. "You can't deny that you're also a member of the Randall family."
Caroline didn't respond to his sentiment but instead asked coldly, "Just answer me this. Did James really die ten years ago?"
A flicker of surprise briefly crossed Elijah's face, and it quickly vanished. "Of course, why do you ask?"
"Never mind."
That statement, left to her by her mother not to trust anyone, had now truly become a puzzle.
Suddenly, Elijah stepped closer to Caroline and stopped less than one foot away, staring intently at her.
The thought that this man had killed his own siblings to gain everything of James stirred a mix of fear and disgust in Caroline, prompting her to look at him warily. "What do you really want?"
