PRANK

1002 Words
I came back home after I found out that my youngest sister had run away. I can’t believe a 16-year-old girl like her could do that. Yes, I know my sister. She was stubborn and always wanted to leave the house to roam. In fact, every time Papa leaves every night to go sailing because that's his job, that's also the opportunity for her to roam. I don't know, but I'm also tired of scolding her, especially my second sister, who almost covered up her doings when it came to Papa so she couldn't get scolded. We know our dad very well. When his head heats up, you can't just receive cursing if he doesn't slap, punch, kick, hit, or throw you with whatever he touches; sometimes he burns or destroys your things. That is our father's way of disciplining. That's how we grew up. There was nothing we could do; he was the only one there to take care of us. Our mother left us, and since we were still kids, Dad also played the role of our mother. So I could not answer him when he preached to me. But these two sisters of mine, who are younger than me, can do that to Dad. Much has changed since I moved away from them to study in the city. I can’t quite figure out why we have to end up in such a predicament. Because when we were still together, we had a very good life—the type of life I can say was happy to be me—but everything changed in an instant. I had my own cellphone when I entered senior high school, not with my father's money but with my own savings and remittances from Mama. Dad never allowed us to use the phone before, and I didn't know why. Then he always reminds us not to put very personal information about us online that we will post or that the public will see. I know that, since the world is cruel, you can be harmed by what you post on social media. So that's it, before I go straight to us. I first went to the house where my sister is staying right now. I was surprised by what I found out. "Ate, why are you so slow? I know everything. And I don't want to come back to us. I am ashamed to be the daughter of a man like him!” My youngest sister furiously yelled at me as tears continued to flow into her eyes. He was referring to Dad, and I could not understand why he reacted like that. "Elle! Why do you speak like that? Is it hard to understand what Papa said—that he just wants to protect us so he doesn't want us to wander around because we are women—? Believe me, Dad is just doing this for us. He loves us very much; you know that." I gasped as I almost cried. I feel like my chest got heavy, and I can't understand why. "Protect us? YES! Dad is protecting us from the bad people he used to be with! Dad doesn't love us. Because if he loves us, he won't let Mama leave us then." I was startled after hearing what she said. "And one more thing, didn't you know before? Papa had planned to kill Mama before. Ate, haven't you ever wondered why we can't determine what Dad's real name really is? He uses a fake name. He doesn't even have an ID. Ate, why? Did you see his birth certificate? No! Cause there's none!” She keeps whimpering, and I can't speak because I'm hurt. "Our parents separated , not because Mama got pregnant by another man. Mama left us because she could no longer bear Papa's pain. You see everything, don't you? How can Papa punish us like that when we made even just a little mistake?" She is continuously explaining something to me, but I can't determine what she wants to convey. "What do you really want to say?" I sobbed as I held my furrowed forehead. "Do you remember Kuya Jeonmin?" With the mention of that name, I receive an electric shock. Jeonmin is my mafia prince friend that I met on social media. "Do you think it was all an accident that you talked to them? You know who sent you a death threat, sis. You saw one of them, didn't you?” She's screaming that she's almost going crazy. I was suddenly shocked when she let out a sarcastic laugh and said, "Dad is a former member of Jumak!" She seriously looked at me, causing my chest to tighten even more and the tears to continue to flow. Jumak is a famous g**g from Japan. "What are you talking about? Stop your wickedness! You're not funny!" I screamed and wiped the tears from my face. She suddenly turned to walk away as she said, "It's up to you. It's up to you if you don't want to believe. But I remind you that our lives are in danger if we stay in Dad's custody. Especially now that Big Boss' staff is looking for him. And then, sister, your friend Kuya Jeonmin is still alive. We met yesterday, and he told me the reason why Papa hid here in the Philippines.” "Just wait? H-How is J-Jeonmin? Does he still remember me?” I started crying. I was just surprised when she turned to me and laughed out loud while taking out a hidden camera. "It’s a prank!" She shouted while pointing the camera at my face. I just realized that she was just recovering from the prank I played last Sunday. "Aish! I was already thinking about how the story will end with Jeonmin and me. That would be a happy ending, then." I sighed as I rolled my eyes at my witch sister. That was great; I had almost forgotten that we are vloggers.
