A long time ago, I had a best friend. She is Antheia Lim, while I'm Christophenia Fortez. We had been best friends since 3 years old because we used to live in the same village in South Korea before. Like normal kids, we did nothing but just play games the whole day. When we reached five years old, we always went to school together. She made my childhood very special to everyone. I admit when we were young, I admired her beauty already. But, of course, when we were young, we didn’t know much about love. All I knew then was that I wanted to take care of her like a brother to his baby sister. With all the joy she has brought into my life, we did not expect to reach the c****x of our friendship.
It's funny to think, but at the age of 5, Antheia told me that she didn't want to marry anyone but only me. It was only the first time I felt that my heart couldn't stop beating so fast. We didn't have a good mind at that time, but I can't deny to myself that if I ever had to choose who I would marry. I'll always choose her because I am happy every time I am with her.
But all those happy memories fade after the incident happened during Valentine's Day, 2007. We went to the toy store to buy a toy.
“Hey! There are BT21 toys. Come on, I wanna buy it?”, excited Antheia said as she approached the toy.
But before she could reach the toys, someone already bought it.
“Crisp poop, that kid took my BT21.” Antheia hugged me while crying.
As a child and didn't know how to avoid doing wrong, I was moved to pity my friend. So I immediately snatched the toy from the kid who bought it and quickly pulled Antheia out of the store. I stole something just to give to my friend.
While running, I prayed that the guard would not catch us. But unfortunately, I did not notice the vehicle approaching us so we were bumped by it.
That day, we were rushed to the hospital due to severe injuries sustained, but unfortunately, I was the only one who survived. While Antheia died of a severe fracture to her brain that could have caused her to be comatose for life. The decision made by her family to give her up was more difficult than letting her suffer more just to let her stay alive.
I suffered from missing her within one year, blaming myself for what happened. If I hadn't stolen something that wasn't mine, Antheia would still be alive.
