Shayera’s Birthday

It’s finally here all of us walked into the ball, and I couldn’t believe how beautiful it looked! honestly, I was super nervous. What if tonight was the night that I met my mate? I looked around and saw all the handsome Lycans and wolves from all the different packs. But as soon as I walked in the ball, I heard my name being called.

“Shayera!” Luca said as he approached me. He looked amazing, so freaking handsome in his tux. Honestly, it wouldn’t be so bad if he was my mate he is extremely attractive, very smart, and very sweet.

”Wow Shayera you look stunning” he gleamed. Man his voice so much deeper than when we first met.

“Come on Luca pick your jaw off the ground, you hitting on Shay is like you hitting on my sis, makes me gag” he said laughing.

I slapped Lucien and said “shut it, leave him alone,” we both stuck our tongues out at each other.

Alpha came in behind us and said “our future Alpha and Betas daughter acting like children things will never change,” he chuckled. “But please mind yourselves at this event, got it?”

“Yes Alpha, yes father,” we said in unison.

I turned to Luca and apologized and told him I’d find him later. He gave me the biggest grin and I went to catch up with everyone else so we can head to our seats. As soon as we sat down, that’s when we heard the announcement of the king, queen and their children. When my eyes landed on the prince’s, I couldn’t believe how gorgeous they were. It’s like the goddess took her sweet time with both of them. Esme nudged me and whispered in my ear. “ holy crap feast your eyes on those beautiful specimens maybe one of us will be mated to them or maybe both of us how cool would that be?”

I honestly don’t know how I would feel if I was mated to them, as beautiful as they look, they look so serious and a little scary at the same time . Anyways, that’s just a fantasy world that I quite honestly don’t want to be a part of. I’d rather be a mate to either an Alpha or a beta of a pack growing up. I had trained to be a Luna with Esme as well since I was a betas ‘s daughter. The only reason our alpha agreed to have me train as a Luna is because I am of alpha blood because of my mother bloodline so needless to say whoever my mate is, I’ll be ready for anything, but I honestly don’t think I’d be ready to to be queen, that would be hilarious though.

“Earth to Shay, helllooo, can you stop zoning out girl you missed the whole speech from our king and the food has arrived!” She whispered. I shook my head and started to dig in.

“Omg in a few hours it will be your bday, will meet your wolf and you could possibly meet your mate so freaking exciting I wish my birthday wasn’t so faraway” she wined.

“Your birthday is in 2 weeks you weirdo” I giggled.

She leaned back over dramatically and said “I might wither away by then. We both started to laugh and continued to enjoy our meals.

After we were done the band began to play and felt like I was in a fairytale, people started to get up to dance. Both of our parents got up to dance along with Lucien and Kat. She told us to call her Kat since we were all going to be family. As much as Lucien annoys me I am very happy for him. As we sat and marveled at everyone dancing I felt a strange sensation. Like someone was watching me. I look up and from a distance I see one of the Lycan princes staring me down. My cheeks felt warm and I instantly got hot all over I’m sure I was blushing because he started to smirk at me and then looked away. That was so weird, I quickly shrugged it off and kept on watching the others dance. As time went on I realized the full moon was finally out. I quickly found my parents and told them that Esme and I were going to change and go outside and wait til midnight and they said they would meet us out there so they could be there for my first shift. As I walked again I felt as on me but I kept on walking right before we left the ball I felt someone grab my arm and turned around and saw Luca with a big toothy grin.

“I was hoping I could steal you away for a dance or two” he said shyly. I looked back at at Esme and she said it’s fine she would go back to the table and talk to her brother and Kat for a little. I told her I’d grab her in a few. As we walked to the floor I just kept on getting this weird feeling, but I shook it off.

“So what were to up to before i rudely interrupted, sorry also just wanted to catch you before you left” he said.

“No, no it’s okay my birthday is in a couple of hours and I just wanted to change and get ready for my first shift.”

He stopped dancing and gave himself a face palm and said “ omg i completely didn’t think about it, well we will just do this one dance and I won’t keep you.”

“Thank you so sweet, I appreciate it just nervous and I wanted to get some fresh air before all the festivities.’”

He smiled at me and nodded after the song finished he bowed and wished me luck. I ran and pulled Esme so we can run to our rooms and change. We finally stepped outside and the night was beautiful. The full moon was out and we did bump into some other wolves who were preparing to turn 18 as well wasn’t many of us but it’s cool that there are others who have the same birthday as me. We found a seat so we can wait for families to meet up with us. At about five minutes to midnight everyone arrived starting to get a little nervous, but my mom sense it and give me the biggest hug to calm my nerves.

“ Don’t worry, sweetheart the pain from shifting won’t last that long.”

I nodded my head and relaxed a little bit. out of nowhere appeared, and I was so confused as I looked around and saw everyone involved in their own conversations.

“ man I was dying to talk to you girl you’ve been talking to yourself for so long and all I wanted to do is just answer you back!” the voice, exclaimed.

“Omggg are you my wolf?”

“ Yes I am I’m sorry to interrupt our awesome meeting but you’re going to get ready to shift so I apologize in advance for all this but it’s going to be very fast so don’t worry!”

“Wait what do you mean fas…” I could barely finish my sentence, when I started to hear my bones cracking. Though the pain was excruciating, I did shift faster than I noticed others that have seen shifted. Finally when I was done and looked down at my dark red paws. When I looked up, everyone that was with me was staring at me. Then my father spoke up finally “princess you are the size of an alpha wolf. well honey now we know who the family she takes after but she has the same dark red fur as wolf!” he said, with a big smile!

“Can I turn back now before the big run?” I asked my wolf.

“Oh yeah sure just think about your human form and concentrate and you’ll turn back!”

“ Am I gonna be naked when I turn back?”

“Nope, lucky for you. We are part lycan so you still have your clothes!”

“Oh duh didn’t even realize that thank you!”

So I sat there and envisioned myself and the human form, and all of a sudden poof back to myself! Everyone crowded around me and gave me hugs and congratulated me on getting my wolf. Now that I got this checked off hopefully my mate will come next in the next day or two.
