Moana’s POV It was already late, and I was tired of waiting around. My mom had been talking nonstop with her friend, and they didn’t look like they planned to leave anytime soon. I kept telling her it was getting dark and we should go home, but she waved me off each time and told me she still needed to be somewhere with her friend. There was no point arguing, so I stopped insisting. I just stepped aside and pulled out my phone. Since she clearly wasn’t ready to go, I had no choice but to call Alex and ask him to take me home. He didn’t complain. He simply said he was on his way. He arrived a few minutes later, parked in front of the place, and waited for me. The drive home was quiet.
