Chapter 18_Ashton’s POV
I had been planning this for a while. Moana needed to be closer, needed to be part of my world in a way that made sense. So I arranged for her to work at my company, made her my personal secretary. That way, I’d see her every day, could keep her close without anyone suspecting. And also give myself peace of mind before the day I will publicly announce my engagement with Nadine.
The first day she arrived, I watched her walk into my office, her posture confident, her smile easy. I felt a swell of pride. That's my woman over there.
The first test came sooner than I expected. A difficult client had been giving the company a headache for weeks. Nothing we tried seemed to satisfy him. Meetings dragged on, proposals were rejected, tempers flared behind closed doors.
