Bonded By Loss

FADE IN: EXT. CITY PARK - AFTERNOON SARAH (late 20s) sits alone on a park bench, lost in thought as she watches children play. Though surrounded by joyful LAUGHTER and SCREAMS, her eyes are sad. SUPER: Six Months After Losing Her Husband Sarah wipes a tear, missing Jake more each day. She feels lost without her soulmate and best friend. A stray PUPPY wanders over, sensing her sadness. He TILTS his head, eyes wide with curiosity. Sarah smiles softly as the puppy licks her hand, providing comfort in her grief. She picks him up and gazes into his eyes. SARAH You remind me so much of Jake, with your sweet spirit. I could use a friend. A jogger, JAMES (30s), does a double take at the cute scene. He slows to a stop, catching his breath. JAMES I'm so sorry to interrupt. Is this little guy yours? SARAH No, I think he's lost too. We're bonding over shared sadness. James sits beside her, a spark of connection in their eyes. Both recognize the other's pain of loss. JAMES I lost my wife last year. It's so hard some days. Sarah nods, understanding all too well the grief of a broken heart. A friendship starts to form through their tears. The puppy plays between them, a symbol of hope.
