He sat up and ran his hands through his dark, wavy hair. He rubbed his eyes again to shake the sleep off. He didn’t feel fully refreshed, but he did feel slightly better than when he managed to drop off a couple of hours ago, after Harry had relieved him. Tyler rolled up his bedroll and tied it behind his horse’s saddle. He pulled off the leather canteen and took a large swig of water, then poured some over his face, shivering as the cool water ran down his neck and shirt. It would soon dry under the warmth of the sun. With each passing moment the yellow ball of the sun grew higher in the blue sky spreading its fingers of warmth over the clearing where they’d bedded down. Their fire had gone out long ago.
