Chapter 3 Time was not a friend; the sun would come up soon and its heat could ruin a salvage job. Just one particularly hot day, one heat wave could turn the open desert black, leaving nothing but starless night upon the earth. The work was slow and awkward but from the ground, where ice had formed, she took what water she could, picking up from what was left in the buckets and funnels, throwing them into the lab. The lab had a tear two meters wide at its centre which she covered with a silver sheet before using her chains to drag the bombed ship up on top.
