Two Months Later
Iris Pov
Iris found herself lost in a whirlwind of emotions as she navigated through her past and present in Las Vegas. The city held memories both painful and hopeful, and being back stirred up a mix of feelings she wasn't prepared for. The business meeting had left her feeling raw and vulnerable, especially after seeing Alex's reaction to her presence.
For weeks after the meeting, Iris threw herself into work, burying her emotions beneath a mountain of paperwork and meetings. But no matter how busy she kept herself, thoughts of Alex lingered in the back of her mind, haunting her every moment.
One evening, as she sat alone in her hotel room, Iris found herself unable to escape the memories of the past. She scrolled through old photos on her phone, tracing the outlines of familiar faces with trembling fingers. The ache in her chest was almost unbearable as she allowed herself to relive moments she had tried so hard to forget. But amidst the pain, there was also a glimmer of hope. Deep down, Iris couldn't shake the feeling that maybe, just maybe, there was still a chance for her and Alex. She longed to reach out to him, to bridge the gap that had formed between them over the years.
With a newfound determination, Iris made a decision. She would confront Alex, face-to-face, and lay her heart bare. She couldn't continue to live with the regret of what could have been if only she had been brave enough to fight for it.
The next day, Iris set out to find Alex, her heart pounding with a mixture of fear and anticipation. She knew it wouldn't be easy, but she was willing to take the risk if it meant finding closure, or perhaps even a second chance at love.
As she approached Alex's mansion, her steps faltered for a moment before she gathered her courage and pressed on. The familiar sight of the grand estate brought back a flood of memories, both good and bad, but Iris pushed aside her doubts and knocked on the door, her heart racing in her chest.
To her surprise, Alex answered the door himself, his expression guarded but curious. For a moment, they simply stared at each other, the weight of their shared history hanging heavy in the air between them.
