"I'm very sorry boss. I couldn't get here early because of the rain." Iyana bowed her head in apology but the woman just walked away after tossing the mop to her.
"Clean the floor before going behind the counter. James took the shift off at the last minute so you'll be doing his job along with Valor." The other lady cleaning the vacant table said and Iyana looked over at the guy who was standing behind the counter with a cup of tea.
"Can today be any worse?" She groaned as she walked into the changing room to change into her work outfit.
After cleaning the floor and replacing the door mat, she walked behind the counter where Valor was. As soon as she got there, the disgusted look on his face said it all.
"What are you doing here?" He asked harshly.
"It's not like you own this place to question me." Iyana shoved him aside but he grabbed her wrist harshly.
"Watch the way you talk to me, weirdo. I won't hesitate to kill you right here on the spot." He threatened and she clenched her other hand making his hand turn white as if all the blood drained from it then she slipped out her hand.
"You can try." Iyana shot him a death glare before walking to the other side of the counter.
Valor shook his hands to get the blood flowing well before he got back to work, still looking at her.
The doorbell jiggled and they both looked up. A blonde lady walked in, pulling off her raincoat and hanging it on the cost rack.
"That's one heavy rain." She groaned as she walked over to the counter and sat before Valor. "Valor."
Valor leaned in and they both kissed passionately, making Iyana twist her face disgusted.
"The rest aren't here yet?" The lady asked before looking at Iyana. "Your cute partner isn't here today? Why is she here?"
"Apparently, the boss asked her to fill in for James." Valor replied as he turned to the machine to make her a cup of hot tea.
"Won't she scare the customers away? Clearly she's not fit to stay out in the open like this. I can stand other creatures but not her." The lady, Lydia said to Valor like Iyana wasn't even there at all.
Iyana didn't even look in her direction, she just turned to get a cup of coffee and fast food a customer had ordered.
"Let her be Lydia. She isn't worth your time. Maybe the rest of the gang got stuck because of the rain." Valor said as he placed the cup before her and rested his chin on his knuckles, looking at her like she was some interesting thing.
"They've got a car." Lydia pointed out and just then the doorbell jiggled and a group of guys walked in laughing and chatting loudly.
"Here they are." Valor stood straight after winking at Lydia.
"Valor." One of the guys walked over to the counter as the other five sat at a table. "Babe, you're here."
The guy lowered himself and kissed Lydia and Iyana sighed. They were all the same.
"Guys, see. It's Iyana." The guy said sarcastically and Iyana looked up at him as the other guys quickly took their seats on each stool before the counter.
"Hey Iyana." The one sitting before her smirked and she crossed her arms under her chest with raised brows.
"How may I help you Zion?" She asked.
"I want a cup of hot tea and some waffles. Maybe a taste of your lips too." The guy, Zion, said teasingly as he dropped a dollar not before her.
Iyana took it and turned to make the tea. She didn't say a word to him as she dropped both before him.
"Come on sweetheart, talk to me." He said mockingly. "Is it the cold?" He leaned in to touch her but she slapped his hand away.
They all burst into laughter looking at her disgusted expression. "She thought he was going to touch her." They all roared in laughter again and Iyana sighed.
"Your jokes are getting old boys. If you'll excuse me, you're preventing a customer from ordering." Iyana pointed out as she looked at the customer questioningly.
"A cup of tea." She replied before going to sit at a corner.
"No need to work your pretty fingers off Iyana. I can pay you all the money you want if you come to work as a toilet cleaner at my house. That's where you belong darling." Another guy said, making them roar in laughter again.
Iyana rolled her eyes knowing it was pointless talking to them. She'll just let them finish their nonsense and leave her be.
Iyana walked out behind the counter to go serve the woman who ordered but Lydia placed her leg before her and she tripped, falling to the ground and the tray with her fell.
The vampires threw their heads back in laughter as they watched her stand up and dust herself. She had a cut on her hand and Zion glared at her while licking his lips.
Valor noticed this and before he could stop Zion, he launched at Iyana. Before he could touch her, Iyana clenched her fist and he dropped on the floor.
"Quit your nonsense and go get a life." Iyana yelled angrily before wiping the blood off her hands. She let go of Zion and bent down to pick all the broken pieces.
"You will be paying for the tea Lydia." Iyana said and walked away without even waiting for a reply.
Iyana walked into her room after a tiring shift and sat on the bed.
"I'm starving." She groaned and went back to the kitchen to make something for herself, then she sat before her laptop and started watching a movie on Netflix.
After an hour, she walked out of the bathroom, wiping her wet hair with a towel when her phone started ringing.
Iyana took her phone to see Lynn's bane in the caller's ID. "Lynn?"
"Iyana, there's a problem. They took them. They took my parents."
