After a good night’s sleep, Rose woke feeling fresh and excited. Sunlight streamed through the open window as she dressed and applied a light layer of make-up.
“Why are you up so early?” Marian struggled to rest against the headboard. “It’s only seven.”
Rose stooped to pull on her sandals before replying, “We want to make an early start.”
“Does Shelly know you’re going to be gone all day?” Marian rubbed at her eyes, creating black smudges on her skin.
“Yes and I told her last night not to worry about me. What are you planning for today?”
“Lazing around the pool.” Marian wrinkled her dainty nose. “The beach looks nice but it’s so messy, especially when you’re trying to apply sun cream, and today I’m seriously working on my tan.”
