Chapter two

Jasmine was eating the dinner she had prepared when she got home. After she was done, she went to her room. She looked over her laptop to check if there was any job vacancy she could apply for but there was none. She was not happy with her current situation but there was nothing she could do about it. She slept after putting on her alarm.
True to William thoughts, Audrey had entered his apartment since the extra key card was with her. She was fast asleep on the couch while waiting for him. He quietly entered his room and locked it in order to prevent her from entering by the time she wakes up. He sent Ivan a message to drop Jasmine file on his table the next morning. He freshened up and slept while reminiscing about her.
The next morning in Jasmine's apartment, her alarm woke her. She got up from her bed and did her morning business in the bathroom after praying. While she was dressing up, her mind drifted to her parents who lives in Nigeria. She made a mental note to give them a call when she gets back from work. After making a breakfast of pancake and tea, she left for work.
The same morning in William's apartment. He came downstairs to meet Audrey in the dinning room munching on her breakfast. He tried to ignored her but she had seen him.
'William, I waited for you to come back from work till the time I slept off on the couch. I woke later in the night only to be aware of the fact that you have gotten home. AND YOU LOCKED THE DOOR.' She said almost in a breath.
He ignored her and continued to walk towards the door. She blocked him from going out and said 'You are not going anywhere today without answering me. I had to sleep in the guest room last night.'
'And why will you sleep in my room. Guest room are meant for guest and you are a guest in my house.' He retorted
‘I want to make this work but you are preventing me from getting close to you. William I love you....'
‘And I don't love you. Look Audrey it will be better if you look for a man who would appreciate you and love you the way you are. Because I can't love you the same way you love me.' he said and left her standing at the door.
' Oh my God, I can't wait to see that beautiful damsel from last night' he thought while driving to the cafe where he went the night before. He entered the cafe but it wasn't Jasmine who attended to him since she had to attend to other customers. He took his order and left for his office. By the time he got to his office, Jasmine file was already placed on his desk.
He opened the file and her portrait was on the first page. He caressed it wishing she was there with him. He noted her other informations including her age, nationality, educational achievements and her marital status which stated there that she was single. He was over joyous with this particular one. Reading to the end, he got to know that she was currently seeking for a job and he decided that he had to do something. He picked up his phone and called Ivan to his office.
'Come in'. He said answering to the knock on the door.
'Good morning Mr Brittain' Ivan greeted as soon as he entered into the office.
'Inform the Human Resources department that we would be recruiting some staffs to the Accounting department, Production department and the marketing department. They should know what to do'
'Okay sir any other thing?'
'No, that's all. You can leave.' Ivan left to the Human Resources department to relay the instruction given to him by his boss and was immediately carried out.
'Now she should be able to get a job at my company' William thought to himself. As he was getting ready to go about the day's work, his mother called him.
'Good morning mom'
'William you remember I'm your mom and you can't give this poor woman a call' his mom lamented in a sarcastic tone making him to chuckle silently.
'I am sorry mom. Work has been busy lately.'
'Ok ok. I've heard you. So when are you bringing home a wife for I and grandma to meet.
'Mom I don't have any special woman in my life now. But don't you worry. I will bring someone soon'
'Humph Just don't bring that Audrey of a wolf in sheep clothings'
'Okay mom. My regards to grandma. I will come to visit you this weekend'
'Bye son'
He was always happy speaking to his mom. She never really forces him to do any thing. Even at his age, he was never really pressured to get married. But there are some moments where his mom would fake getting ill just to convince him to get married before she gets too old. His mom and grandma also never liked Audrey. They were not in support of her clinging to him like a snail to its shell.
It was lunch time for Jasmine at the cafe and another has taken over her post. She brought out her phone to find her luck if there was any company with job vacancy that doesn't look at her skin colour. Most of the company where she has been too has discarded her as trash because of her skin colour. She came across an advertisement from Brittain construction Enterprise recruiting staffs to the listed department. She was sceptical about applying for it. The company was a huge one and she was not ready for any other embarrassment.
'I will talk to mom and dad about this. I'm scared of being humiliated again' she said in her mind.
By evening, the cafe was getting less busier so she left early leaving Tina and other workers.
William was disappointed not meeting her there when he got there at late evening.
