“Boss you don’t have to lock her in the basement.” Gio says running to catch up to me. I don’t say anything because I’m furious with her but mostly with myself. I’ve never in my life put my hands on no woman. I barely raise my voice to them. Papa Noah always told me that women was to be treated with respect. And no real man should ever hit or disrespect a woman, and that’s the code I live by. But I broke that code, I hurt Alexis. I don’t know why but I did. I took all my frustrations and anger out on her. “Come on Alex let the girl stay in the room. What harm is it going to do?” He continues his protest. “No! She need to learn that when I say something I mean it. And when I tell her to do something it needs to be done without back talk.” I state before I slam the door to my office in his face. I take a seat in my chair behind my desk. I go in my drawer and pull out my private phone and call the one contact number I have stored.
“Hey baby.” My mother coos on the other in. “Hi mama Rose.” I greet. “How many times to do I have to tell you. It’s either mama or Rose” she questions with authority. “Sorry Ma” I submit. “What’s the matter baby?” I sigh she knows me so well. “I messed up Ma, I messed up real bad.” I hang my head low in embarrassment. “How about you come home for dinner tonight? I’ll cook your favorite and we can talk about how to fix it.” She suggests. I smile through the phone, after everything I put her through she still loves me the same. No matter what I’ve done in the past she has always stood by me and never judged me. I don’t put her into mafia business and she doesn’t ask about it. But she knows what I do. I keep her out of it for her own safety though. This line of work can get dangerous and if you’re not careful it will take everything from you. So no one knows about Rose, not even Giovanni or Jacob. My enemies would know she’s my weakness, because I will do anything for her. So I can’t put her in that kind of danger. Plus she’s all I have left, I can’t lose her. “Okay Mama, I’ll be there.” Was all I said before hanging up.
Alexis
I’m still sitting on the floor, the same spot where I landed from him throwing me. My shoulder is in so much pain from the landing and I can’t move it. My body has been through so much in just two days, I’m not sure how much more I can take. I struggle to my feet and look over to the guy who’s suppose to take me to the basement. He looks back at me with sadness written all over is face. He walks closer to me and I move back. He frowns at my actions. “I’m not gong to hurt you princess, I just wanna take a look at your shoulder.” He says coming closer but again I back away. I shake my head “no I’m fine.” I lied. “Have you always been this difficult?” He ask standing in front of me. “Look if you want to help me, tell your Boss to let me go.” I say respectfully and he exhales deeply. “I can’t, no one tells the Boss what to do. You might wanna remember that while you’re here.” He explains and I just roll my eyes without giving a rebuttal. “Come on let me have a look at your shoulder before I take you downstairs.” He moves in closer to me, this time I don’t move back. It’s something about him that makes me trust him. He grabs my arm and inspects my shoulder. “You’re the doctor who stitched me up?” He laughs “no, I’m no doctor but I’ve been through my share of broken body parts.” I don’t say anything to that.
“What’s your name anyway?” I try to distract myself from the pain. He meets my eyes with sorrow “this is going to hurt. A lot.” He snap my shoulder back in place and I scream. He laughs at me while I look back at him ready to punch him in the face again. But I don’t, after all he is helping me. Once he finished, I let him rewrap my head. He even applied ointment to my lip. Most of the scraps and bruises were gone, so there was no need to wrap those. “Jacob.” He says standing up. I look up to meet his eyes confused. “My name is Jacob Smith, but you can call me Jake.” He clarifies sticking his hand out. “I’m Alexis but my friends call me Lexi.” I introduce my self shaking his hand. He smiles “well it’s nice to properly meet you. And not your fist Lexi.” He laughs again and this time so do I. Jake Sighs and runs a hand over his head. “Look, I don’t want too but I have to follow orders.” He pauses looking dow at me. “I have to take you downstairs to the basement. But I promise I will talk to him and see about letting you out. I don’t know about going home but I will do my best to get you back in here okay. “ I don’t respond I just look down at the floor and nod my head standing up from the bed. He grabs my chin forcing me to look up at him. “Don’t worry you’ll be okay, I gotchu. We’re friends now and I always have my friends back. I only nob my head unable to speak.
He wraps his arm around my good shoulder and we walk out the room together. We head to the stairs and descend them. We make it to the bottom of the stairs when we hear a door open. Jake quickly tries to remove his arm, but I don’t think he was fast enough. Because Alexander comes out of a room looking livid. He doesn’t say anything he just stares at Jake and storms past us. Walking out the front door. I look at Jake confused because I’m not sure what’s going on right now. “s**t” was all he said, putting his hand on my back, gently pushing me forward. We reach the basement and there’s another guard standing there. He’s a new one that I haven’t seen yet. He opens the gate door and I shiver from the cold breeze. I stand there looking at the cage I’m suppose to enter. I don’t move a muscle as I am in disbelieve that I really have to be placed in there. Jake nudges me forward. “It’s going to be okay Princess.” He tries to tell me. He take off his black leather jacket and wraps it around my shoulders. He stares at me with a guilty face. I nod my head and move closer to him. Stretching my good arm out, I give him a hug “I’ll be okay”. I repeat trying to sound brave. After a while I let go and put the jacket completely on and step all the way into the cell. He closes the gate and the guard come behind him and lock it. Jake and I make eye contact one more time before he turns to the guard. “Make sure she has plenty of food and water. She’s a special situation so feed her properly.” He demands and the guard just looks in my direction and nods his head. And just like that Jake leaves me and I’m all alone.
Alexander
I’m f*****g livid I walk out of my office to find my best friend, no my brother with his hand around her. She even had a small smile on her face. Something in me just isn’t sitting right. A feeling I’ve never felt a day in my life. All she does is fight and push me away. When all I wanted to do was talk to her, reason with her. Just for a chance to explain everything to her. But she’s so stubborn, and I never get the chance. I try to keep my cool but this girl knows how to press every button I have. I put on my shades and walk out the front door. I hop into the SUV waiting for everyone else to get into they assigned cars. I tilt my head back and exhale hard. Jealous! I’m f*****g jealous of my best friend. He’s getting close to her without her resisting and it’s bothering me. What in the world is happening to me?
A few minutes later Giovanni jumps in the car on the passenger side and Jacob right behind him in the driver seat. I’m so pissed with him right now, if he wasn’t my best friend he probably would be dead right now. But who am I fooling, I’m not mad at him, how could I be? He’s doing exactly what I told him to do. I just hate to admit the fact that he was able to her to smile, to have an actual conversation. He’s the good guy and I’m the monster who told him to lock her away. He starts the car and looks back at me “where to Boss.” He asks trying to sound normal. “Warehouse 15” was all I said. We get to the warehouse in about a hour. When we pull in and get out it’s just as Gio said earlier. Three of my men were laying on the ground dead and half of my d**g supply was gone. My anger comes back full front all over again. I needed to figure out who did this and fast. My revenge is going to be sweet.
My men start to clean up the mess once we made sure who ever did this was gone. Giovanni and i try to calculate how much of my drugs and money was lost. It’s hard to concentrate on anything when I have Alexis on my mind. I need fix this with her and fast.and her being in the basement doesn’t help my cause at all. I know she doesn’t deserve to be put down there, but in all reality I did it so she wouldn’t escape while I am gone. She’s so beautiful and even more when she’s smiling. I really hope to God Ma is able to help me out with her. The first thing I do when I get back to the house is try to talk to her and take her back to the room. A couple hours later we get the warehouse cleaned up and back in order. I look at my watch and it’s seven thirty and it’s time for me to head to Ma’s house. Dinner should be ready by now, living with her this would be the time we would eat as a family. I leave Giovanni in charge of finishing and locking up the place. Then I instruct Jacob to go to Toxic and give me an update on the changes that I’ve made. Punishment from earlier. He’s tried to talk to me but I just ignore him. I know it’s childish of me to treat him like this but right now I don’t care.
