Chapter 14 Alexander

I slide into the SUV alone and speed off. I drive in the opposite direction of my destination before turning around going to right way. Just to make sure no one us following me. As I said before I can’t lose her she’s all the family I have left. Papa Noah died a three years ago to cancer. Ma and I took it hard but we got through it because we had each other. It was even harder keeping it a secret from my bothers. They knew right away something was off with me. But I couldn’t let them know I was mourning the lost of my father. So I just suffered in silence. Forty-five minutes later I’m pulling up to a place I once called home. The sun has already set and the skies begin to darken. I park down the street across the house, a few houses way. I get out and stride towards the house. Once I make it on the porch I take my 9mm from behind my back and place it in the holder on my ankle, letting my pants leg conceal it. Pulling out my single keychain and unlock the door. Stepping inside I call out for her. “Ma? I’m here, where are you?” “The kitchen son” she yells back. I head down the hallway towards the kitchen. Her house isn’t a big one, it’s simple. A three bed room two story house with bright pink walls. There’s family pictures of us on almost every wall. There’s a porch swing in front. A pathway of flowers alongside the stairs, and two big windows one on each side of the front door. showing the living and dinning room area. When I took over the Moretti family I tried to get her to let me buy her a bigger house but she wouldn’t go for it. She said this was our home and she wasn’t leaving. I pass the through the hallway and find her in the kitchen standing over the stove. I walk over to her hugging her and she kisses both my cheeks. She looks up at me and smiles and I do the same. She’s a hefty woman about 215 pounds, black with a head full of grey hair. Yes my mother is black, and I love her to pieces. I take a seat a the table “hi Ma.” I say as I wait for her to make my plate. She turns to look at me with a smile plastered on her face. “Hi my sweet boy.” “Ma I’m a grown man now, I haven’t been a boy in a long time.” I laugh as I explain to her. She walks up to me and playfully slaps my shoulder “I don’t care how old you are or get, you will forever be my baby boy.” She grabs my cheek and pitches it. I laugh knowing I’m going to lose this argument. She walks back over to the stove, fixing my plate and sets it in front of me. She gets her plate and sits next to me. “Eat your food baby and then we’ll talk.” We make regular small talk, mostly about my hotels and restaurants. I think she’s more excited then I am about this. It feels so good to be home. To feel normal and not have everyone scared of me. This is the only place I feel truly at peace. Once were done eating I take our plate and place them in the sink. It does quiet because I really don’t know how to tell her what I did. And frankly I’m afraid to tell her. “You don’t need to be scared to tell me anything. I am your mother you can tell me anything, so just spit it out son.” I sigh and return to the table. “It’s-it’s about a girl Ma.” I finally say not looking in her direction. “The blonde with the blue eyes, I saw you with on tv?” She questions annoyed. “God no Ma, that’s done not like there was anything there to begin with. She’s just won’t leave me alone.” I explain finally turning around looking at her. She smiles immediately and looks relieved. “Well good, then who’s the girl?” “Her name is Alexis and I think I like her. I like her a lot Ma, she’s beautiful, smart, independent and so stubborn. But she won’t give me the time of day, and I’ve tried being nice. I tried talking to her but it always ends up with us arguing and fighting. And I messed up, I did something I swore I would never do.” I confess looking down at the floor ashamed. She doesn’t say anything giving me time to continue. “I. I grabbed her by the throat and threw her across the room. She landed on her shoulder and I’m pretty sure she dislocated it. I didn’t even go over to her to see if she was okay or anything. I just stormed out leaving her there alone.” I finish still not looking up from the floor. I’ve done a lot of terrible things in my life, none I’ve ever felt ashamed of but this is the first time I can say that I am. I’m ashamed and disgusted of my self. Ma doesn’t say anything for a long time, and I drown in the silence. “You have to own up to your mistakes baby and apologize to her. This isn’t something you can’t fix son. Her shoulder will heal and she will forgive you eventually, you just have to give her time. Because it’s not an over night thing Alexander. These things take time, its not like your business you can just purchase. Feelings take time to develop and just because you like her now doesn’t mean she has to feel the same right this moment. And I know you’re not a patient man but if this is what you want you have to build it. Just like your hotel build it from the ground up, and everything else will fall into place honey. I’m telling you she will come around, you just have to kill her with kindness. She’ll talk to you at some point, you just have to show her what a sweet boy you can be.” She preaches as she rubs the side of my face. We talk a little while longer before I decide it time to head back to the mansion. My confidence is high and I feel hopeful that I can win Alexis over. I knew coming home talking to Ma was the best decision. I kiss her cheeks and hug her goodbye and head to the SUV. She stands on the porch and watches me leave. She yells out “I wanna meet her and soon son.” Before retreating inside the house. I start the car and take off in a much better mood. Kill her with kindness I say to myself. Alexis It’s been only a few hours since Jake left me down here in the basement. I’m so thankful for the jacket me gave me because it is freezing down here. I try my best to stay in a positive mood hoping he would get me out of here soon. But the more the hours past the more I begin to lose hope. No one talks to me, they just bring me food and something to drink before leaving me all alone. I start to believe that he’s never gonna let me out of here again. I can’t think like that, I gotta find my own way out of here. I’m not depending on no one for help I say to myself. I can do this I just gotta think. After sometime I believe I’ve come up with the perfect plan. I walk up to the gate “excuse me, guard.” I call out. He turns to me “what the f**k you need now girl?” He says harshly. “Uhm, I I have to go to the restroom.” I whine trying my best to sound desperate. “Hold it.” He barks. “I can’t, I’ve been holding it already and I have to go really really bad.” I do my best to sound like a child, but he just ignores me. So I try a different method. “Jacob said that I wasn’t a real prisoner, that I just had to stay down here till they get back. All I’m asking is to use the restroom, please you can bring me right back when I’m done.” He walks up to the gate rapidly “SHUT THE f**k UP, you’re worse than a child.” He yells at me. “Well if you just let me go to the restroom I will, but I have to pee.” I snap back praying my plan is working. “You better not try anything, I don’t know what he sees in you anyways. If it was me I would have been f****d you and traded you to the highest bidder. Save myself the trouble.” He says opening the gate. He grabs me by my arm and pulls me close to him. “Yeah I would f****d that pretty little mouth of yours too” he says l*****g his lips. I try backing up fearing he’s going to try to r**e me too. “Please I have to pee.” I say looking away and he growls. He pushes me to the door, “move” was all he said. I make my way to the door, and he unlocks it and forces me through. He then leads me up stairs to the second floor. He opens the door to the restroom and pulls me to him. “Two minutes b***h” he lets my arm go and leans agains the wall. I simply nod my head and enter the bathroom, locking it as quietly as I can. It’s a nice bathroom, really nice. Not like the one in Alexanders room but its still really nice. It has white tiles on the floor, black and white granite counter tops and black and white decor towels. There’s a shower that has a glass door and a deep tub off to the side. Man I could use a shower right now, but that’ll have to wait till I get home. With no time to waste I look around and I spot a window. Yes that’s perfect, that’s my exit I think to my self. s**t, I’m on the second floor how and I going to jump out the window. I turn around and look at the shower curtain. Perfect. With less than two minutes I begin to unhook the shower rings as fast as possible. I flush the toilet and go to the sink and turn on the water. I tie the curtain around the towel rack, I take the towels and tie those to the end of the curtain for more length. Opening the window I make my way out. Before I’m fully out the window I hear the guard bang on the door. “Times up b***h lets go!” I quickly get out the window holding on to the curtain for dear life. I make it down to the ground without falling. I do a victory dance in my head. I look around to see how the hell I’m going to get off the property. Deciding my course of action I make my to the side of the house when I see a guard patrolling. I stop and duck down behind a bush, s**t I think to myself. I wait for him to pass before I come up. About to make my move and make a run for it I see another one right behind him. s**t, s**t, s**t I think. He walks right past me when I hear a phone ring. “WHAT!” He says as he listens to the call. “What do you mean she’s gone? How the hell did she get out the basement? Boss is going to have your a*s when he hears about this you dumb fuck.” He yells into the phone, running back into the house. I wait a little while longer behind the bush before I get up and run to the back of the gate and climb over. Once on the other side I do a victory dance. “Yes I did it, Alexis you’re a free woman.” I say out loud. Turning around to leave I walk into a brick wall. I almost fall when a pair of arms grab me. I look up and see Alexander staring down at me. Pissed off I might add. “Going somewhere?” He ask. I try to wiggle out of his grasp but it’s no use. “Just let me go. What the hell do you want from me?” I question but I never get an answer. He just looks at me before turning us around and pulling me towards the house. Alexander I’m currently driving back to the mansion excited to see my ragazza (girl). Thinking about what I can do nice for her. Maybe a romantic dinner at one of my restaurants, or a picnic on the beach. So lost in my thought I barely hear my phone ring. I look at the screen in the SUV and George name pops up and I answer. “What?” He takes a long time to answer, then he replies, “she’s gone Boss.” Confused I ask “whose gone?” Knowing damn well it couldn’t be Alexis, since she’s in the basement locked away till I get back home. “The girl Boss.” He says and you can hear the nervousness in his tone. I instantly become angry no I’m pissed, how the hell did she escape the basement, no one has ever escaped the basement. “HOW?” I yell. “She said she had to go to the bathroom and she wouldn’t shut up until I took her. She locked herself inn and climbed out the window Boss.” He tells me, I just simply hang up the phone. I’ll deal with him when I get home and find her. I start to speed through the streets doing at least 90mph breaking every traffic law. When I finally pull up to the mansion it’s in total chaos. I get out and everyone turns they attention to me. “The f**k y’all standing around for find her!” I demand as I walk through the house. How does this piccola ragazza keep out smarting my men I think to myself. When I step in the house I look around before going to the upstairs bathroom. I look out the open window and look straight ahead. The woods, she’s in the woods I think to myself. I race down stairs out the front door. “Everyone stay in the front, Giovanni you and Jacob take a side of the house.” I order as I run to the back of the house. On the outside of the gate I hear something hit the ground. Quickly I sprint in the direction I heard the noise and I see her. I move in closer and she doesn’t see me. She does a little dance and I’m amused and pissed all at the same time. As I’m moving closer to her she turns around to run she runs right into me. I catch her as she’s about to fall to the ground. “Going somewhere?” I ask and she tries her best to get out of my grip, but she has no luck. “Just let me go. What the hell do you want from me?” She cries out. I don’t say anything I just stare at her. I’m pissed don’t get me wrong, but staring into her eyes some how calms me. All i want to do right now is kiss her, to hold her in my arms and never let go. To make passionate love together. Then my mind goes back to her trying to escape and all the things I can’t do to her and I get angry all over again. I turn us and start walking back towards the house. “Let me-.” I stop and turn to look at her interrupting her. “Shut the f**k up. And I mean it piccola ragazza(little girl). Don’t say another f*****g word or so help me God.” I yell grabbing her jaw so she see how serious I am. “You will learn your place soon enough cara (Dear). As I stare at her I can see the tears forming and she fights them back. So much for my plan to kill her with kindness. After this she might not ever like me. We make our way back to the house passing everyone. I walk straight up to George. “Boss I don’t know how she got out the window, but I own-“ He doesn’t finish his excuse as I punch him dead in the f*****g nose, causing him to bleed. “You’re lucky I don’t kill you now. Count your blessings I found her.” I tell him walking away dragging Alexis with me. We make our way down to the basement, looking down at her she’s crying silently. I feel a guilty pain in my chest knowing I am the causing on it. I walk her back into the cell and she goes in without a fight. I close the gate and lock it. I pull up a chair and take a seat. She sits on the ground in the fair corner with her back towards me. I sigh “why did you try to escape?” No reply. “Answer me Alexis!” I demand and still no response. I get frustrated, here I am trying to be civil and talk things out and she won’t say anything. “Alexis I know you hear me, so stop ignoring me and just answer me” I try my best to sound as calm as possible. Nothing I still get nothing. “Fine you don’t want to talk, then you will stay down here until you do. But you’re never going home, so get that through your head. This is your home now, just accept it.” I snap getting up walking out the basement, slamming the door behind me.
