Maguire abruptly stopped in his tracks the minute the word came out of Mason's mouth. The first thing that gripped him was fear. At first, he thought he must have heard wrong. There was no way Mason would say that kind of thing, right? He wouldn't go that far, right? But then he had a rethink. If he were in Mason's shoes, he would have thought of doing the same thing, so it was definitely true. It was real.
