Unknowns point of View It has been over a month since we attacked the pack housing the siren and soon we will have her. She was the last and that meant a good payout for her blood.  As I looked at the men who were sitting at the table I stood up and said, "Everything in place?"  "Yes, master." I smiled at the men and knew the siren would be mine soon.  Rick's Point of View It has been three days since Layla told the truth and today the DNA results would be in. As I kissed Becky on the lips I said, "I love you."  "Love you too. How is he?"  "Not good. He has been drinking and smashing up his house. This is killing him." "Is there anything we can do?" She asked with concern crossing her face.  "No," I said as I shook my head.  "What about Tess? Can't she pull him out of it?"  "I doubt it. He doesn't want her plus she is still out."  Becky sighed and looked away from me. I knew she could feel the sadness inside of me and that added to her emotions.  "Did you want to go to the hospital with me to  find out if Duke is the father?"  "Ya."  I grabbed her hand and we walked to the pack hospital. Once we were there the nurse led us to the doctor's office where Duke was already sitting.  "Hey," I said as I sat down. I pulled Beck into my lap and took in her scent.  "Hi," He said.  "Have you spoken to the doctor?"  "Not yet."  "Have you seen the baby?" Becky asked.  "I have."  "And do you think he is yours?" I asked.  "I'm not sure. I knew Layla slept around and I was okay with that as long as she gave me a small part of herself. I want the child to be mine but I also don't want to be a single parent."  "Understandable but if she is your mate why didn't you speak up?"  "Do you know how Layla is? If she didn't get her way everyone would pay. That is why I was okay with only having a small part of her but I had hoped one day it would have been enough. I guess that will never happen."  "It will not."  "Will you kill her?" He asked me. I could see the sadness in his eyes. "Until I know who the father is then she will remain alive."  "That is what I thought."  Just then the doctor walked in holding an envelope. He sat down and looked at everyone.  "I have the results. Is everyone ready?"  "Yes," Duke and I said at the same time.  "Good." The doctor opened the envelope and said, "When it comes to the child Duke you are his father."  I let go of the breath I held and looked at Duke. You could see fear and happiness cross his face.  "Congrats Duke."  "Thank you alpha. When can I take him home?"  "Today if you want. He can stay another night if you need to get things ready."  "I need to get things ready but I want him home tonight. I will ask my parents to help me."  "Good. You will need to pick out a name and sign the birth certificate before he can leave."  "Yes, doctor."  Becky and I got up as the doctor was talking to Duke. I turned around and said, "Duke I need you to keep the baby and yourself away from her."  "I will alpha," And we left.  Instead of walking out of the hospital, we walked into Tess's room. She was still out cold but I grabbed her hand and said, "You need to wake up. Ben needs you." And we left.  Tess's Point of View  I heard Rick's voice again but no matter how long I tried to open my eyes or make a sound nothing came out. I had heard his voice and the voice of others several times but as they talked everything would fade away.  Once Ben's voice stopped I heard his footsteps along with another start to leave. I wanted them to stay. What was wrong with Ben? Why won't anything work?  As I lay there still as I could be I started to talk to my wolf. She has yet to respond.  "You there?" I asked.  "I am."  "Why can't I move or open my eyes?"  "I am not sure."  I started to hear alarms go off and soon the sound of people rushing in.  "What is going on?" I heard Rick say.  "Her brain waves are spiking," A male voice said. I think that is the doctor but I am not sure.  "What does that mean?" Rick said.  "I am not sure," The man said. I felt his hands on me and soon he was shining a light in my eye.  "Her pupils are dilating That is a first," The man said.  'What is he talking about?' I asked my wolf.  'I am not sure,' My wolf said.  "She spiked again," A woman said. "Tess if you can hear me try to talk," The man said.  I was trying to get my body to do what it wanted but it would not move. After several attempts, the man said, "If you can talk to your wolf do it now."  'Any ideas on what we can do?' I asked her. 'None.'  "Well, that is a good sign. She is mentally awake and can speak to her wolf. Perhaps in time, she can wake up," The man said.  "That is good," I heard Rick say.  "Talk to her Rick and fill her in on what is going on."  "Thank you, doctor."  I heard people moving around and soon I felt someone grab my hand.  "Welcome back Tess," Rick said. " I need you to wake up because Ben needs you. Layla had the baby and it is not his."  My wolf began to howl in my head causing me to jerk.  "I saw that." He said.  'My mate needs me,' My wolf said.  "He has been drinking and tearing his house apart. I fear we will lose him."  As he said that I opened my eyes and was blinded by the light. -Yes the song Blinded by the light by Manfred Mann's Earth Band is now stuck in my head.
