6 Learning To Be A Queen
Lorna wakes up still feeling woozy from the teleportation from earth and into her new body here on Solaris. She felt a bit more than herself, but still did not feel magical. Her skin felt silky and looks shimmery with light, she felt some change to her hair and ears also as if they were growing and her hair color looked like it was getting lighter. Walking to the mirror she saw her face, "what the hell, who am I?" my face was all glittery and my hair is turning white with irradiant glow on the ends, it was streaked blond and bright white. My face was elongating like Elfane’s and my chin was getting more pointed, my ears were gaining a point and getting longer too. I looked at my arms and legs, they were looking longer and thinner, and I was more toned than I remembered. I stood up and felt taller too. "How weird I feel" my eyebrows were growing longer hairs and the hair was longer and growing to a point at the corner of my eyes, my fingers and nails also elongated, and the nails are growing pointed almost claw like.
A knock on her chamber door snapped her mind back to the present moment, a young elven girl enters the chamber.
"Your majesty I have some robes for you for your lessons with Elfane" The robes were silken and had gems encrusted in the seams and sparkled like a rainbow, the dress a deep purple with gold braid and trimmed with Maroon, it was form fitted and flattering to her new form with the skirt widening from her hips and thighs and forming a bell shape at the bottom. The sleeve tight fitted and then bell out at the wrist, it was beautiful to behold this gown and it was a lesson robe!
"Elfane will be here within the hour, your grace I am here to assist you dress. The household will be ready for your inspection after you have lessons with the high priest this morning if that pleases you, your majesty"
"Thank you, what is your name" I ask her, and her cheeks flame red with embarrassment.
"I beg your pardon your majesty, my name is Reffala, I am a house maid in the staff here for about 4 years now. “
She quickly pulled the sleeping gown from over my head and pulled the robe around me and set it perfectly in place and fastened all the ties and buttons. Wearing this gown made me feel royal, it was empowering. The stones felt like they were sending me energy while I wore this robe.
She gasped in awe the dress would make anyone look royal. "You look amazing your majesty!"
I moved to the mirror, I see my face now very different, but more like Elfane and Reffala's, my chin now coming to more of a point, my cheekbones higher and my eyes were painted with reflective gems painted around them, it was all along my cheekbones in a swirl pattern rainbow effects when the light hit them, my eyes were the same to me, being a hazel green color, they looked more green now, my eyelashes looked longer and fuller and darker, while my eyebrows where now extended out more towards my ears like a pencil thin line where my human ones were as they both were extended towards each of my ears, my hair still streaked with my human blonde and now with elven white-blonde. My eyelids were splashed with a rainbow glitter, and they changed when the light hit them, and the light refracted into the different colors of the rainbow-like prisms. the swirl pattern went over my eyelids, and it was quite dazzling to see my face like this. I was not sure how long I stared at my face in the mirror.
"Your majesty, the high priest will be arriving shortly I have brought you morning refreshments to break your fast." she points to the overflowing tray with what looked like fruit slices and nuts, and a pitcher of water, and a carafe with a steaming beverage in it.
My stomach growled loudly “Thank you Reffala. You may go now about whatever you need to do" I say unsure of the right response after feeling embarrassed by the loud noise my stomach made just that moment.
She quickly leaves and curtsies at the door. I am left alone now in this strange bedchamber with all these alien things around me, but for some reason I feel like I am home here. I walk over the tray and find the steaming liquid is coffee. Thank God, I don't know if I could carry on my day without it, I giggle, now how do they get coffee here? I wonder to myself. The fruit looks like Earth fruit and nuts also. I take a slice that I think is mango and yes it tastes exactly like it. I pour myself a mug of coffee and add what I hope is cream to it and take a sip. Wow this is good stuff here on this planet! Everything looks like it was from earth, and I wonder how can they get this if they cannot get there unless by portal? I eat my fill and ponder this for a while.
"Good morning your majesty" Elfane knocks at the open doorway, "I hope that the dress and breakfast are to your liking?"
"Yes, how do you have these things here on Solaris?" I look at him wondering if this was all some hallucination.
"A long time ago, centuries, our people freely entered the earth through the portals the kings and queens could make, and we explored the universes and galaxies to find all sorts of plants to collect to create a living collection of all varieties to one day host other alien civilizations that we contacted with and summit with. It enabled the king to entertain without making our guests feel, well, like aliens and we tried to also include our own cuisines as well and created recipes to combine other worldly ingredients together since food and nutrients are needed by all life."
Elfane explains "It also was close to our own plant life here so we cultivated many of the ingredients you had for your morning meal, we also thought that Earth with some similarities would make it suitable for your hiding in safety. Appears we were correct in that aspect.“
His handsome face smiles brightly as he watches me sip on my coffee.
"Yes, I don't know how I would survive without my coffee" I giggle, "It’s been part of my morning routine for me for a very long time, since I was a tween. My mother let me have my first cup at 10 years old. I even was a barista for work when I was in high school."
He smiles "Yes, I saw you grow up from time to time, we were pleased that your mother on earth took care of you well”
I look at him surprised at his statement.
"We would check on you in times of the day there on earth to make sure you were safe. I am responsible to keep you safe. I was partnered with another High Priest to keep your soulmate safe, but he was captured by the dark king, Hiroline. The dark king murdered him, and Jaime was left unprotected, we were extremely worried that you both were vulnerable on earth, and we were right to worry since he was able to kill Jaime even without a portal to earth. I had to act immediately since my dream saw this and I contacted you at once to get you to the portal where you could return home at once and be safe from Hiroline. I could not leave you there. I am sorry we could not get to you before Hiroline."
He bows low to me “Please forgive me, my queen."
I am at a loss for words, my life is still in danger I realize now.
"You are forgiven, I am alive, although Jaime my love is not" tears spring to my eyes "You saved me, I must learn to connect to my magic and you must teach me to do so or we can all lose our lives if Hiroline gets control of me or my magic" I take his hand "You must help me learn to be a Queen and to save my people from this monster."
