"If my lecture is uninteresting to you, Miss Green, you can come forward and teach." Mr. Demetrius said, crossing his arms over his chest, and I blinked to get rid of my drowsiness.
"No, of course not, Sir. I apologize for my sleepiness. If you permit, can I wash my face and attend the rest of the lecture?" I asked him, and he stared at me, his oceanic eyes glaring daggers at me.
"Be inside my classroom in the next sixty seconds, or we can see each other in the detention room, at lunch." Mr. Demetrius threatened me, and I couldn't help but roll my eyes as soon as I dashed out of the classroom.
Fuck your rules, Mr. Demetrius.
When I returned, he had written certain questions on the white board and my fellow classmates were solving them.
"Copy the questions from the board and solve them on your assignment sheets and you need to submit them before the end of my lecture." He said, and my eyes widened in horror as I stared into his oceanic eyes with incredulity.
"Before the end of the lecture!?" I asked him, staring at the wall-clock in front of me. "You barely have fifteen minutes left before your lecture ends." I said and he stared at me with a gaze that made me tug on my sleeves.
"We have double lectures scheduled on Fridays, Miss Green. Are you sure you and I are on the same page?" He asked me, leaning against the wall, and I cleared my throat, looking for my schedule in the bag. But I never felt it important to go through the entire timetable. I was too busy for such things.
"I'm sorry, Si......" and before I could've apologized for my torpid behavior, I sneezed. And then again. And again.
Mr. Demetrius looked at me with a strange expression on his face. He looked like he wanted to say a lot of things to me, but he was refraining himself from saying anything. I shook my head, rubbing my nose before looking at him again.
"I'm sorry for....." I trailed off when I saw him walking towards me. He was leaning against my desk, his head slightly bent down to look into my eyes. The man was tall.
"It's too cold for you to roam without a jacket, Miss Green." He said, his oceanic eyes staring at me with such an austere gaze that I couldn't stop myself from trembling. I immediately looked away, to muster some courage, at least, courage enough to stare right into his eyes.
"I am fine. I really don't......" sneeze!
"Yeah, I can see how clearly you don't need a jacket. Start writing your test. And bring your lunch to my cabin." He said, turning around to leave for his desk.
"But... but I didn't disrespect or defy you this time. You can't give me a detention for not wearing a sweater, Mr. Demetrius." I argued, my eyes were as sharp as a knife when I was glaring at his head. He ceased to move, his fingers curled into an angry fist.
He didn't like it when anyone questioned his power. His questions.
"It's not a detention, Miss Green. I found certain mistakes in your homework. I want to discuss those at lunch-time, considering how you can't wait after the lectures." He said, making me wish to roll my eyes. But I didn't want another detention. So I refrained myself from doing anything that could be disrespectful to a teacher.
"Okay, Mr. Demetrius."
"Okay, Miss Green. Continue with solving the questions written on the board. Any mistake and you will have to write the answer five times." He warned me, and I scoffed in answer, shaking my head.
"We are not in grade two, Mr. Demetrius. Humans tend to make mistakes."
"And as your teacher, it's my duty to correct your mistakes. Even if I have to make you write the wrong answers multiple times," he said to me. He walked over to his desk, not even listening to what I had to offer him.
