"May I come in, Sir?" I asked, knocking on the door and Mr. Demetrius looked up from his yet another novel. The reading glasses placed on his nose made him look young. Beautiful. And even more handsome.
"Come inside, Miss Green." He said, making me nod my head as I placed my bag down and placed the thermos on the table and leaned back on the chair.
Sneeze.
I hate getting cold.
"You brought your lunch today?" Mr. Demetrius asked me with newfound amazement, making me chuckle as I shook my head, opening the lid of the thermos before taking a sip of the hot water.
"No, Mr. Demetrius. It's nothing but lemon and honey in hot water. Soothes my sore throat and helps with the cold." I said, looking at the novel in front of me.
"Still cold, Miss Green?" He asked me, making me look at him in surprise. Why does he care? Or does he care at all?
"I have caught a cold, yes. But I am not cold, Mr. Demetrius. This drink is just to help me with my cold. Why did you call me here, though? What mistakes did I make in my assignments?" I asked him, and he cleared his throat, leaning back as he gazed at me with the utmost seriousness.
His oceanic eyes often speak stories of valor. His oceanic eyes often gazed at me like he saw something of him within me. Can he see my pain? Can he look through my smile? Can he see my urge to cry every time I see someone happy? That the happiness I happen to loathe so much is no longer in my house?
"No. No mistakes, Miss Green. A few silly mistakes here and there. But I am sure you can work on them on your own. I called you here to speak about you." He said, making me look at him with amusement.
"About me?"
"Yes, Miss Green. About you. Where is your sweater?" He asked me, making me sigh as I rolled my eyes, leaning back on the chair, trying to breathe through my blocked nostrils. Not again.
"What is this obsession with seeing me in a sweater, Mr. Demetrius. It's not mandatory to wear sweaters inside the campus yet." I said, pressing my throat to get rid of the soreness.
"So will you wear your sweaters if the management enforces this rule?" He asked me, making me laugh as I stared at him with my narrowed gaze.
"If the management enforces the rule of wearing sweaters compulsorily, Mr. Demetrius, then I would have to buy one soon. Because as for now, I have no sweaters with me. Is that all? Can I go back and enjoy my hot drink?" I asked him and he stared at me with a dumb expression.
"You have no sweater?"
"You really think I was roaming around with no sweaters because it's fashion? No, Sir, I really have no sweater. I'll be getting my payment tomorrow. I'll buy a sweater for myself and the chemistry book for you." I said with a teasing smile and he raised his eyebrows at me, not liking my smile a bit.
"For me?"
"I mean, you always threaten to throw me out of your classroom if I don't buy my chemistry book. So, I'll be buying the textbook the day after tomorrow. It's my holiday." I said, sneezing.
"That's nice."
"About the questions you answered today in the classroom test. Three were wrong." He said, making me look at him with my eyes wide.
"Three wrong answers!? There were only five questions."
"Exactly, start writing the correct answers in your notebook. Each question five times." I clenched my eyes shut, curling my lips in a pout. Come on!
"I thought this was not a punishment session, Mr. Demetrius."
"Guess it is now, Miss Green. You can always procrastinate it to do later in your house. But considering how you reach home at midnight, you might want to do it right here. It's not like you have something to eat now." He said, making me glare at him. That was so rude, but so damn right! I want to sleep. And missing his lecture for sleep would mean multiple detentions.
I removed my book from the bag and started writing the answers after he showed me my answerbook. They were indeed silly mistakes. And he struck the entire answer down for it. How fair is it?
