I WILL WAIT FOR YOU

Sophia 4 years later. “You did it, Sophia, you closed the deal. I am proud of you,” Aiden said, clapping as he entered my office cheering me up. I raised my head to see the handsome man who was dressed in a black suit and white shirt and complimented with a black tie. He was there in my front, clapping as he took his seat. “No Aiden, we did it. I wouldn't have closed the deal if not for your guidance. Thank you, Aiden.” “You are welcome, Sophia. You know I will do anything just to make you win.” “Thanks, Aiden, I know that.” Aiden has been of great help to me since I resumed in London as the CEO of Rowling's company. He taught me how to lead a company effectively, everything concerning winning clients and defeating competitors. He has his own company he heads in London, but he dedicates time to helping me to be a good CEO. Aiden is also a good friend to Jackson and showers him lots of love like a father should. There was a moment of silence between the two of us as he stretched his hands to touch mine. “You know I have always loved you, Sophia, and I have waited so long for you to heal from your past relationship, but you haven't given me a chance,” he said, looking me in the eyes. I disconnected our hands and tried to stop the awkwardness that had started building. I don't know what to tell him. He has been there for me, Jackson, and also the company for the past 4 years. He is a good man and doesn't deserve someone like me who still longs for her ex and hasn't healed from her experience. “Please can you give me more time to heal from the trauma of the past?” I pleaded with him. “I promised to wait till you are ready." “Thank you, Aiden.” Aiden has been so patient with me, even though our parents wanted us to be together as soon as possible. He never rushes me, and he keeps waiting till I am ready for him. I knew he had been in love with me right from childhood, but I never loved him back. My phone started ringing, then I picked up. It was Jackson's nanny, Maria. Maria was the woman my grandpa wanted me to hire as Jackson's nanny. I contacted her immediately I got to London and the next day she was at my doorstep ready to resume work as my son's nanny. She is 45 years old, old enough to be my mother, and she has been a fantastic nanny to Jackson and a mother to me. She is always there whenever I need motherly advice and a motherly hug. She made relocating to London easy for me. I secretly wished she was my mother, and I was glad I listened to my grandfather about her. “Hello Maria, what is it?” “It's Jackson, he is running a temperature, and he demands to see you,” she said in a worried tone. “I will be home soon, thank you.” Jackson was very okay this morning when I left, so why the sudden temperature? Aiden was still in my office, so I asked him why Maria called me. “I need to go home now to see him,” I stood up and carried my bag. “Can I drive you home? I would also love to see him.” “Alright, let's go.” Within 30 minutes, we got to my apartment. Jackson was asleep when we got inside his room. I sat on his bed and he immediately opened his eyes. “Hi baby, mummy is here,” I smiled at my precious son. Jackson had been a healthy boy, he did not fall sick and that was what made me worried when Maria told me he was running a temperature. “I am sorry I scared you, Mum, you had to leave your work because of me.” “No baby, don't say that, I will do anything for you. See, Uncle Aiden is here with me,” I told him. Aiden was beside the door, so he moved closer to him. He doesn't want to interfere with the mother-and-son moment. “Hi, Champ!” He came close to his bedside “Uncle Aiden!” he smiled when he saw him. “You know you are a strong boy and I want you to defeat the bad monster in your body. Will you do that, Champ?” “Yes, I will, Uncle Aiden.” Jackson replied smiling. “I love you, Mum, I love you, Uncle Aiden.” “We love you too baby,” I hugged him tightly. “Mum, can you take me to the park tomorrow?” Jackson asked. “No son, we can't go. You are still sick,” I replied to him rather harshly. “But mum, you promised days ago you would take me there.” I had promised to take him to the park for some days now, but I was busy with the deal I closed today, so I never had the time. “Don't worry Champ, your mum and I will take you there tomorrow,” Aiden said. “Thank you, Uncle Aiden, I love you,” he rose from the bed to hug Aiden. “But, Aiden, this is not a good idea. Jackson is sick, and he needs adequate rest,” I protested. “My Champ is a strong boy, he will be stronger by tomorrow. Isn't that right Champ?” “Yes it is.” “I need to get going Champ, Uncle needs to be at the office.” “Alright, see you tomorrow, Uncle Aiden,” “See you too, Champ.” He stood to take his leave and I went out with him. “Thanks for today, Aiden, I appreciate you for driving me home to meet Jackson.” “Anything for you, my Sophia,” I blushed when he called me his Sophia. I wish I could be in love with him, but that man has refused to move away from my heart despite his betrayal. “See you tomorrow Aiden.” “See you too, Sophia.” He gave me a peck on the cheek and this made me blush harder. I knew he saw my face because he had a smirk on his face when I looked at him. He left and I shut the door. Having Aiden in my life has brought ease to me. I need to give him a chance in my life soon. If not for my sake, but for Jackson's sake. My little boy needs a father in his life and Aiden fits in as a responsible father.
