I threw the files off my table and was enraged at the man standing in front. He was surprised at my sudden outburst, but I did not give a sh*t. I only wanted her to be found.
“Since how many years have you been searching for her,” I asked him, flaming with anger.
He looked at me and was afraid of my anger.
“It's been 4 years sir,” Detective Ryan replied.
Ryan Bright was the private detective I hired to search for Sophia but has not been successful with his search. The delay in finding her is making me go crazy, and I am angry because I see him as someone who is not capable of doing his job. My wife should not be so difficult to locate.
“And you still can't find her? Tell me, did she disappear from the surface of the earth or what? Or didn't I pay you well for the job?" I busted out
“We are trying everything we can to search for her, but it seems like someone is blocking our way from getting to her, and we don't think she is still in New York,”
“I don't care about what you think, what I want is for her to be found, and if you don't, you will be fired,” I warned him strictly.
“Now, leave!” he scurried out of my office.
My life has been hell since she left. I can't believe I let her slip away very easily. I never wanted her to leave, but I had no choice but to let her go, so she could be safe. Now I regret my decision.
I looked at the frame standing on my office table. It is a picture of my wife, Sophia. She was everything I could ever want in a woman. I love Sophia so much, despite all odds, she chose me and married me even when her dad threatened to cut her off from her inheritance, but she still married me. I love you, Sophia, and I will do anything to have you back.
A call came in to jolt me out of my thinking. It was from my assistant, Sean, who I sent to London to have a meeting with our investors.
“Hi! Sean, has the deal been closed?” he asked him, expecting to hear the good news.
“No sir, they want you to be present at the meeting, boss,” he said.
“ Sh*t, why is my presence needed?” he asked, feeling annoyed about their request.
“They want to meet the CEO of the company before any deal is close unless we lose the deal to our competitors,”
“Okay, I will be in London soon,”
I put a call through to my secretary to prepare a flight for me heading to London and I went to my mansion to pack my suitcase.
I thought about how Sophia would help me pack my suitcase whenever I was going on a trip. She knows what to put inside and what not to put in. The mansion was empty without her presence and there was a big void in my heart, and only she could feel it.
But I will not stop searching for it, even if it takes me to spend all I had in my search. I won't give up till I get her.
As soon as the plane landed, I went straight to the waiting car.
London is a beautiful place to be, but the loneliness in my heart does not make me enjoy the beautiful sites in London. My thoughts are for her and my heart aches for her even as we drive through the city.
The car halted at the red light, then I calmed the uneasiness in me. I need to be in a good mental state to discuss with the investors. I have to ensure my company gets the deal no matter what. My personal life does not have to affect the company's project.
As I closed my eyes to relax and calm myself. Opening my eyes again, I looked through the window to absorb what was going on around me. Then my eyes caught a lady with long dark hair having a conversation with a man in the car. I looked closely to see her because she had her face to the man. Her back side looked so familiar that my heart suddenly ached, and it caused a shiver in my body.
I thought I was hallucinating, but I was not drunk, and I couldn't have imagined things at that time of the day. I focused my gaze on her, expecting her to turn to my side, so I could confirm my suspicion. The man said something to her, then she smiled and turned her face a little to the other side.
My heart skipped and my breath ceased. Oh my God, it was her. Then the signal turned green.
“Follow that black car right now,” I commanded the driver.
“Yes sir,” he replied.
“Be as fast as possible. You must not lose sight of the car,”
I was sure we were going to meet up with the car wherever it was heading.
The driver was doing his best to catch up with the car but, unfortunately, we lost her at another red signal. The car left before the red signal while ours was held by it. The driver couldn't trace the car again because it had gone some minutes ahead of us. He tried, but the car was not in sight again.
I was pained, and I kept hitting my fist on the car seat and a few tears escaped my eyes. I was heartbroken, and I couldn't hide my emotions even when I knew the driver was in the car. At this point, I don't care who is watching me. She is all that matters to me.
This is a day of chance for me, but I missed my chance to see the love of my life. At least I know she is right here in London.
I picked up my phone and put a call through to Ryan
“Find her, she is in London.”
