Chapter 19
Ruby held her knife before her as she scanned the area. The woods were full of screams and growls.
Her best chance at survival was to stay with the hunters. But the hunters were the ones screaming.
She couldn’t see what was happening. The attacks were occurring all around her. She couldn’t begin to guess how many wolfkin there were.
It sounded like they surrounded her. Enormous shadows leapt between the trees and disappeared in the underbrush.
Could she make it if she ran? Could she hide somewhere while the beasts were stalking the hunters?
She couldn’t even finish the thought. Her instincts were too strong.
Ruby spun and ran.
She hadn’t taken five steps before the air split with the sound of an enormous roar in front of her.
