Chapter 29 Gran walked right into the forest. Ruby hovered at the edge of the shadows. It was daylight, but the forest was still the last place she wanted to go to. “Gran, where are you going?” “Just follow me, and you should be all right.” Gran didn’t slow down. Ruby hesitated. If she stood here any longer, she was going to lose Gran. Who knew what might happen to her in the woods? She’d heard other people talking about their grandparents getting on in years and fading, but she never thought it would happen to her own Gran. She might be acting strange, but there was still nothing frail about her—far from it. She seemed more agile than ever. Ruby couldn’t see nor hear her now.
