I can't breathe. Ember's gone. My baby. Everything around me fades into a blur. It's as if the world stops spinning, and I'm frozen in this nightmare. Panic claws at my chest, squeezing every bit of air out of my lungs.
I felt weightless as I dashed back to the room where I'd left Ember in Hillary's care. Upon arrival, the only person there was Hillary, her expression wrought with panic and fear, pacing anxiously until she saw me and immediately rushed over.
