Deucalion watched the sunlight slip across the ceiling of his office. Once he'd stopped screaming, he'd collapsed on the floor and hadn't moved, not even to sleep. His beard growth itched and irritated but he didn't feel the need to take care of it. He'd spent a whole night without Allison. The house was quiet and lacked the normal scents associated with mornings of her sleeping beside him or downstairs cooking. Her warmth was noticeably absent, and the wolf inside him whimpered for his mate. Mates weren't supposed to be separated for too long, and she'd already been gone for a whole night.
